Happy Thursday my lovely friends,

(Werbung/ad – Ortsnennung/place marked)

since we are all trying to get back a piece of normal life and outdoor activities are more in demand than ever I wanted to share our visit to the Eibsee in Grainau, Germany. We went last year and between my pregnancy and upcoming Fall content I totally forgot about it but I think now is the right time.

The Eibsee is called the Caribean Sea of Germany because of its incredible blue water. The colors are insane in real life at least for a lake.

It was a 2 1/2 hour drive from where we life. The lake has a hotel with the prettiest view as well as a huge parking lot. From there you can either go up in a gondola to the top of the 2.962 m high Zugspitze or you can go down to the lake. We went there to have a look at the lake so that wath our path.

A big restaurant is right at the lake and not far from the parking lot at all. You can sit outside and enjoy the most beautiful view of the Eibsee. We had lunch right after we arrived and it was just gorgeous. From there inspired by all the people in the water we decided to rent a small rowboat and explore the lake by boat.

Other rentals they offer are small motor boots and SUP´s. I really can´t remeber how much it cost but you can book half and full hours. We got our boat right away and headed out on the lake. Unfortunately some short time after that a thunderstorm rolled in and we had to get back to the shore.

If you don´t want to be in the water you can hike around it. It takes about 2 hours to get around and you can start either way. We only went about 20 minutes in one direction because it started raining again. The weather is very unsteady and unpredictable as the lake is surrounded by mountains, it also changes quick.

There are cute little bays and also big rock to sit which make awesome picture points. If you life in the area or passing through I would totally recommend spending half a day at the Eibsee. If you just plan on walking around the lake all you have to pay is parking and not more.

But keep in mind it is a very touristy place and although you can stay outside you probably won´t be able to keep your 2 m distance all the time.
