are you making progress in your Christmas preparations? I definitely do. After decking the halls and wrapping all of the presents and visiting several advent markets I have finally tackled our dinner table. Like every year our families come together on the 25th of December for a Christmas dinner I am hosting.
I have a different table scape every season (it usually matches the color I have decorated my tree) and this year I only made a little change. I wanted the table scape to be black, gold and pink like the ornaments on the tree but (I recently discovered this) the gold on the ornaments is silver – oh boy. Since I already had all the pieces I needed and didn´t want to get everything gold in silver I just went with the gold.
So I got a black tablecloth and started to decorate. The black and white place mats where the hardest to find (or at least I thought so) but since Ikea has a lot of different ones I decided to have a look at their site and voila they went straight into my cart. I really thought this is going to take ages to find similar ones but these are very similar.
I decided to go with white plates rather than black ones and I also didn´t have any black so since I already got everything I also didn´t want to get out again to get new plates. The pink cotton napkins are from amazon and they are great. A super soft and well made material and the color is so pretty.
The water glasses are H&M and I am using these over and over again also for our Thanksgiving dinner (view the post here). They are at a great price point and look great.
For a festive touch I added these little pink rose arrangements to the table and also the glittery champagne bottle ornaments and brass candlesticks with the rose pink candles.
It isn´t a typical Christmas dinner table in the traditional way but it is in no way less festive. I am probably gonna have red all over next year cause at some point I miss the traditional colors.
By adding the Freixenet bottles (by the way my favorite bubbly drink) I wanted to make sure that everyone can handle the aperitif situation as they like. I always have some folks who don´t like the bubbly at all.
Since I am serving a menu there is no need for several matching dishes to place the food on the table. The only thing I forgot in the pictures is my water carafe with the golden rim.
Do you have planned your table scape already and what are your colors this year? Or maybe I have given you just as much inspo that you setting it up like this?
As always thanks for stopping by and check back every day this week for lots of Christmas themed posts.

happy Monday to y´all. I know Monday´s aren´t too happy for the most of us so I am sharing a fun Christmas look today. We probably all have one and only wear it at home but it´s time to break out the Christmas sweater in public and I am sharing how to dress it up.
I got those two Christmas sweaters I absolutely love. They couldn´t be more different but I think they really hit it of for the season.
So let´s beginn:
Red Christmas sweater with penguin imprint and pom pom (as seen above) // This is probably my most loved look. I paired the penguin sweater with a black boyfriend blazer. A boyfriend balzer is in my opinion the better choice if you want to wear your sweater underneath a blazer at all as it is made of a pretty thick material and believe me you still want to be able to lift your arms. I paired it with a pair of dark denim to throw in some casual vibes and finished the look with a pair of overknee boots and a red lip.

….
Black Christmas sweater with glitter trees // I have worn this pretty pullover to a few occasions already and I have to admit I love it a lot. The colorful glitter trees make it perfect for so many ways to wear. About two weeks ago I have worn it to our local advent market combined with a plaid scarf, a white wool jacket and a pair of leather leggings.
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p, cb; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); e.id = id; cb = new Date().getTime().toString(); p = ‚//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js?cb=1543933556681?cb=‘ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‚object‘){ if(doc.readyState === ‚complete‘){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ’script‘, ’shopsensewidget-script‘);
I personally loved both looks very much and I can only recommend it. Get a pretty Christmas sweater for yourself and dress it up for the holidays. There are many ugly ones out there but equally nice ones. So be sure to check out Asos or H&M. I have found the best ones there.
Thanks for stopping by. Take care. See you.

it is Sunday and what´s best to do for Sunday´s than read?? Anyone with me? I am sharing another round of my reading list today. All of the books I have read in November (I wish they where more but with all the beginning of the Christmas hustle and bustle, Thanksgiving and our Holiday Party there wasn´t just enough time).
Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty // Sensible Lyn is struggling to balance being a mother, wife and
businesswoman without losing her mind. Cat, whose perfect marriage is
the envy of all her friends, never suspects that her husband has been
hiding a secret that will tear her life apart. Directionless Gemma

who could be the one to unlock her hidden past. Through
everything, the bonds of the sisters are strong enough to withstand
whatever life throws at them. That is until the night of their
thirty-fourth birthday dinner, when home truths are revealed and things
are said that can’t be taken back.
My opinion: A nice read. I really love her writing style. I absolutey adored Big Little Lies and this book is also really great. Not as got as the other but a gread read.

boundaries between duty and desire blur… well, she’s only human. But
when Alex oversteps a line with Jonathan, one of her patients, she

wants he will tear Alex’s world apart – threatening not only her career
but her marriage and family too. Soon Alex finds she’s capable
of doing almost anything to keep hold of her perfect life, as it begins
to spin dangerously out of her control…
My opinion: I couldn´t get into it for the frist 20 to 30 pages but at somepoint it has an interesting twist a way I could have never guessed it and it got me hooked from the minute this happened so I had to finish it at once. Super thrilling. You will not believe what and how it is happening. Highly recommend this one.
Pictures from our Swarovski dinner cruise
December bucket list:
– visit another city for different Christmas lights and Advent markets (just came home from Leipzig)
– bake a gingerbread house (done – view post here)
– make your Christmas signature drink (view post here)
– deck your front porch (planning to get this done this week)
– watch a Christmas performance (ballet, theatre)
– go on a Christmas inspired dinner (we took a Christmas dinner cruise last week)
it has been a while since we had a Food Friday post with all the hustle and bustle of Christmas but here we are again.
Every season has its traditional drink like refreshing bowls for summer or hot apple cider for fall so does winter – especially Christmas season. I traditionally crave my first eggnog of the season after watching „A Christmas Vacation“ with Chevy Chase. One of the best Christmas movies ever (have a look at all the movies I have seen so far here). There is one scene in particular where Clark and his cousin Eddie enjoy a glass of tradidional eggnog in these adroable moose glasses and that always gets me in the mood for it.
(source YouTube)
The glasses are sold on amazon but they are too expensive for my taste. But you can find them here if you like
So here is the recipe for a traditional eggnog. I personally like mine hot but you can enjoy it cooled as well.
Ingredients:
– 500 ml milk (I use oat milk or lactose free milk)
– 150 ml heavy cream
– 1 pinch of cinnamon
– 1 pinch of nutmeg
– 1 vanilla bean
– 4 egg yolks
– 80 gr. of sugar
– bourbon or rum (if you want but not necessary at all)
– mix the milk, heavy cream, cinnamon and nutmeg together in a big pot
– gently remove the mark of the vanilla bean and stir it into your milk mixture
– heat it up but don´t let it cook at all
– take a separate bowl and mix together 4 eggs yolks and the sugar
– stir until light and fluffy
– take your heated milk mixture and slowly stir into your egg mixture (make sure to stir all the time)
– put the whole mixture back in the pot and heat up again on medium heat
– be sure to stir all the time until the mixutre starts to thicken, this is when your eggnog is ready
– you can now enjoy it hot immediately or cool it down and serve it ice cold
– add a shot of bourbon or rum into the glass before serving if anybody likes it this way
I am so looking forward to serving and drinking our traditional Christmas drink at Christmas day. Do you guys have any signature drinks you make every year.
