We did it again!!! We booked another trip to Mallorca cause we loved the ocean so much last year. Couldn´t stop thinking about it and not even a year later we were there again. This time around we headed to another corner of the island – Santa Ponsa. It is a small fishing village and we had our honeymoon there 8 years ago.
Where is Santa Ponsa ?
It lies in the southwest of the island of Mallorca nestled into a small bay. You fly a quick two hours from Munich to the airport of Palma and then we always take a private transfer to get to our place. It is only about 25 minutes away from the airport. Really close but so idyllic.

Our Accomodation

We had a vacation rental with 2 bedrooms and a living/room kitchen area. It was enough for all 5 of us and I am already looking to book it again for next year. It was called Casablanca Apartments and on the same property as the hotel.
Restaurants

Restaurants we ate at
Restaurante Rhein – we both had the grilled salmon with salad and fries and it was exceptional. The girls also loved their nuggets and fries the most at this restaurant. Very good prices for huge menus.
Pizzeria A Casa Del Padrino – Ate here twice and loved it every time. I had the chicken ceasar salad and the spaghetti carbonara. The kids pizza and burger have been delicous as well. I would definitely reommend this. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating and reasonable prices.
Block House Sta. Ponça – This is a chain restaurant you have probably heard of before. We went here on our first evening cause it was right around the corner of our appartment and we knew what to get. Food was very good but a lot more expensive than the other local restaurants.
Virtus Smash Burger & Beer – We loved the food here. It was a simple smash burger and fries but it was delicious. We ate here once at the restaurant and got takeaway once. Very reasonably priced but no huge portions. Waterfront seating outside. You can overlook the whole bay of Santa Ponsa. Really nice place to eat. It has a very modern and cool vibe. You can also have breakfast here and different lunch options.
Baguette Land – The coolest food shop on the promenade. I got us huge baguettes for lunch almost everyday. They also had sweet treats and empanadas filled with meat or chicken. We got the everything baguette for us grown-ups and a simple one with ham and cheese for the girls. Super quick and easy and oh so delicous.
Jogurtti – My favorite „restaurant“ find as I was taking my baby for a walk. Went here almost twice everyday cause I just love a frozen yoghurt with lots of toppings. The only downside, that it did not open before 1pm.
Bombay Indian Restaurant – This might be our superpower cause we find a great Indian restaurant everywhere we go. We went here twice and had the chicken tikka masala. They had fresh mayonaise for the girl´s fries and nuggets and our big girl also ate the Indian food cause the liked the sauce so much.
Day Trips
Palma, Mallorca

We had no plans of any sights to look at in Palma. I wanted to visit the big cathedral and pop in the Luis Vuitton store but other than that we just looked around. The area around the cathedral is very beautiful. Nice streets, so many great plants and parcs and cute cafés and shops. It was very full that day (weekday and no vacation in Germany yet) with lots of tourist groups around the city. We did not visit the cathedral cause the two little ones have been super cranky and tired and so we just walked around and looked at streets, shops and buildings, got some ice cream, souvenirs and a handbag (there was practically no line so I had to take a look and I had luck too).
We even had to wait at the Mc Donalds outdoor space to get a spot to eat but there was a great musician playing so the wait time was very enjoyable. Overall Palma is a nice city. It was a pretty day trip but also exhausting with little kids.
We took the bus from Santa Ponsa to and back Palma and it was about 25 minutes. Pretty quick drive and not expensive at all.
Marineland, Mallorca

This was the perfect day trip for my ocean loving girls. So many sea animals in every corner from flamingos to stingrays and penguins and of course the highlight – the dolphins and the dolphin show and the sea lions. Marineland is about 25 minutes from Santa Ponsa away. We took the bus and it was very easy to get there. They have a bus stop right in front of their entrance.
You can take a photo with parrots when you are entering and then you are right in the middle of it. You can choose to go in different directions from here. There are different tanks and enclosures with lots of animals.
Shows are at the penguin pen, the parrot cave and the dolphin tank.
There is also a restaurant which gets very crowded but we got lucky and could secure a table. The girls had their usual lunch of fried and nuggets and we ate a burger and a salad. Food was good and plenty.
The day goes by quick with all the things to do and watch and there is also a pool area for children with splash areas and water.
Santa Ponca Beach

It was the same beach we already stayed at 8 years ago. Some things have changed and some not so. There are brandnew loungers and beach umbrellas. Not crowded at all, we had no problem to get a place everyday (but we went off-season so we´ll see how it is going to be during vacation time next year). The water is crystal clear and you can walk for quite a while before it gets deep. This is amazing with small children. Also almost no waves.
There are no restrooms. You either have to find a restaurant where you can use the restroom or go back to your hotel or pee in the ocean. Not one public toilet !!!
There are so many cute local shops around the beach you can get everything there if you forget anything from shoes to beachwear and dresses. Shopping was very chill cause I went there during lunch time when the little one fell aslepp in the stroller and I had some quiet time to look around. Magnificent!!!
This was a beautiful family trip and we did not have any problems or inconveniences this time. I would defintiely call it a perfect trip. Will book again for next year soon. The ocean is just so magical.
