Red Wine has become a huge favorite of mine over the last couple of years. I didn´t like it much when I was younger – maybe that´s an age thing – but now it is pretty much everything (besides champagne) I drink when it comes to alcohol.
Over the last few months (since I stopped breastfeeding) I tried out different red wines – mostly Cabernet Sauvignon – and I definitely found amazing wines for great prizes but also some that I didn´t like cause they were way to intense.
All of my red wines are dry. I find these the most enjoyable tastewise plus if they don´t taste good I find them to be the most aromatic to cook with.
The red wines I am reviewing today range from 5 to 12 Euro and I have a real gem for you for only 9 Euro. So now pour yourself a glass and keep on reading if you are interested.
Also I know some of you are doing dry January but this doesn´t mean that you can´t collect suggestions for the upcoming months.
Gallo Family Vineyards – Cabernet Sauvignon
A very light and good drinkable red wine. Low on acid. It is a dry cabernet sauvignon and a great wine for beginners. The Gallo wines overall are very tasty. The Gallo Cabernet Sauvignon costs 5 Euro. I got this one the second time already. In my opinon this is a awesome wine for gatherings cause it caters to the tastebuds of a lot of people. I give this one a B+.
Dark Horse – Cabernet Sauvignon
My least favorite, in fact I used the rest to cook beef stew. It was way to heavy for me and I do like the real thick and heavy texture in a dark red wine but it had such a racy like taste and was somehow not enjoyable to drink. I am going to try the Merlot the brand offers soon but so far I am not impressed. The bottle costs about 7 Euro. I am rating this one with a D.
Carnivor – Cabernet Sauvignon
This has been my number one find. Costs about 10 Euro and has the best smell of berries when you open up the bottle. It is a very tasty wine but not acidic at all for a Cabernet Sauvignon. I would prefer this brand over every other I have tried so far every time. I have already convinced a dear friend of mine to try it who by the way loves red wine and she immediately got herself a small stack. This one get an A+. There is nothing I would change.
Yellow Tail – Cabernet Sauvignon
Another smooth and easy to drink red wine like the Gallo wine. It is a Cabernet Sauvignon but semi-dry. I also have the Shiraz but I like this one a lot better. It definitely is fruity and light. I personally would have prefered it a little stronger but nevertheless is it a great wine. I am rating this wine with a B+. The bottle costs about 6 Euro.
I am sorry the review has taken so long but I had the worst technical difficulties over the weekend and couldn´t load up anything.
I am now back to my regular posting schedule so see you tomorrow.
