24 Hours in the Wild West – a Guide to Pullman City….

I have gifted my husband a 24 hrs stay in Pullman City for his birthday in September. Pullman City is a Western Town and as close as you can get in our area to a Western lifestyle. I definitely loved going there in the Fall cause Western looks just look best in the Autumn.

We tried to do everything they offer and got around pretty good but let´s break it down for you, so if you are interested you can spend your own 24 hours in the coolest western city around.

Where to stay

There are different places to stay. It just depends on the experience you want to have. There are two different hotels – the Palace Hotels (where we stayed) and the Hacienda Hotel. If you are up for the real western experience you can stay at a tipi or at a log cabin, but there are no bathrooms there. You have to go to the bath house to shower and to go to the toilet.

Another thing that is new are the country houses. These are new and I have never seen them before. They are like tiny houses and are very modern looking. So if you are just looking for a normal place to stay this would be your preference.

We stayed at the Palace Hotel and from the moment I went into the lobby to the moment we checked-out it was the whole western experience. I have loved the look of it and every detail so so much. It definitely was like you stepped into a western movie.

There is one office right outside the park where you can check-in and -out and get your key.

Breakfast is buffet at the Black Bison Saloon for all the guests from the different hotels but it has to be booked separate.

We stayed in the President Suite at the Palace Hotel and it was the most authentic lobby and room I have ever seen in my life. Disney could have not done it better.

Where to eat

There are several restaurants on but not always open. This depends on what months you are visiting and also if you are visiting on the weekend or during the week.

You can eat at the Black Bison Saloon, the Rodeo Steakhouse, the Cantina Mexicana, Scarlett´s Restaurant, a coffee place and also a cocktail bar.

We have had lunch at the Black Bison Saloon many many times so we went to Scarlett´s for lunch this time and had dinner at the Cantina Mexicana.

Scarlett´s – Baked Potatoe with Turkey and Salad / Western Burger

Black Bison Saloon – Western Pan / Turkey Salad / Pullman Giant Burger XL / Baked Potatoe with Beefstrips

Cantina Mexicana – Enchilada Roja Chili / Chili con Carne / Ensalada Scampi / Guacamole

Shows to watch

Wild West Show – Horseback riding and Indian dancing as well as thomahawk throwing.

The Great Pullman City Show – Dive into the Wild West of America –

Indian Culture and Mythologie – Learn more about the Indian life and culture of the different tribes then and now.

On weekends you can also watch the American History Show and also join in for several other things like Line Dance Workshops and torchlight hikes.

What else to do

– visit the buildings on Main Street (you can walk into a lot of them like the jail for example)

– shop on Main Street (there are several really cool stores to have a look at)

– take a ride on the carriage (it is 3,50 per person but a great experience

– shooting range

– horseback riding

– panning for gold

– riding lessons

– billiard

– torchlight hikes

– line dance lessons

For kids

– huge adventurous playground

– water play area

– kids club in the huge tipi with drawing and arts and crafts

– riding ponies

– panning for gold

– choo choo train

(Summer)Activities for Children around Regensburg…

….

Emilia loves to explore and learn and see new things so we have gathered quite the experience going on day trips to certain parks or activities we think she might like and to this point we haven´t had a miss. There are of course some cons everywhere but they are mostly outweighed by her joy.

Holzkugel Steinberg am See

Entrance Fee: 11,50 € / children under 4 are free / lots of climbing possibilities and activities up to the viewing platform / stroller entrance / restaurant on site / playground on site / a huge lake right around the corner

You can easily spend an entire day here.

Cons: dogs are not allowed / parking costs extra

Sea Life Munich

Entrance Fee: 19,95 € online ticket / children under 3 are free

Cons: it is located in the Olympia Park / lots of people on site / parking isn´t free / on weekends and holidays strollers are not allowed inside cause there are too many people / if you are slow going through it still only takes you about an hour

I would suggest visit the Olympia swimming pool after. It is about two minutes away and has a big and very cute baby / toddler area. There never is much traffic. You can view all about it here. They only offer coffee and sweets so make sure to each upfront or take some snacks with you. Also you can not take your stroller with you

Wildgarten Furth im Wald

Entrance Fee: 4,50 € / children under 6 are free / huge area to explore with a dinosaur skeleton, underwater aquarium, suspension bridges, tree house / great for little children cause you can find new things around every corner / dogs are allowed / it is possible to take your stroller with you

Downside: there is no toilet / no possibility to buy food or drinks / few parking spots

Dinopark im Altmühltal

Entrance Fee: Children 3 and under are free / adults 19,90 € and children 12,90 €

Forest park with model dinosaurs & exhibits of excavated fossils, plus an outdoor play area where you can dig up your own fossils and a huge playground

Pros: there are several dining areas, so it won´t get too crowded around lunch time / food is very affordable and tasty as well / the digging area is under a huge roof so you can do at least one activity should it start to rain / there is a trampoline in the middle of the dinosaur tour (I loved it very much) / huge playground

Cons: only a lot to do and see if it doesn´t rain / it is pricey / gift shop is right at the entrance so prepare to buy at least one pink triceratops 😉

Bird Show / Castle of Riedenburg

Entrance Fee: 10,00 € / children under 3 are free / open Tuesday-Sunday – shows are at 11:00 am and 03:00 pm

Cons: there are only two shows a day at fix times so it will be very crowded especially on holidays but I think it is worth it to at least see it one time / not much else to do other than have lunch or coffee / the way up from the parking spots is pretty long and steep

There are a few hiking trails to go on as well as bob run nearby, but children need to be bigger for this.

Wildpark Höllohe

Entrance Fee: for free as well as the parking spots / goat food is 1 € per cup but it is plenty

Cons: It is super muddy and slippery when there has been lots of rain the days prior so you definitely need rain boots and a blanket for the car if you are bringing a stroller / it will get crowded very soon especially at the weekend

Pros: a great experience for children cause there are so many animals to see and feed / coffee is great / food tastes good and is very affordable / there is no entrance fee or parking fees

Pullman City

Entrance Fee: 28.50 € / children under five are free

Pros: it comes as close to the Wild West experience as it can possibly get in Germany / very well made – you feel like you are actually walking down main street to an old dusty saloon / I can wear all of my western style pieces and nobody cares / there are several shows for free throughout the day / the water playground is a huge plus for hot days / a little train to ride for children / animals to observe /

Cons: everything else you want to do costs extra money like gold digging, glitter tattoos, parking / entrance fee is a lot / gets very crowded on weekends

Palm Beach

Entrance Fee: children under 1 for free / children from 1 – 5 years 6,90 €, adults 20,90 € for 4 hours, 26, 90 € for the whole day

Pros: great outdoor children´s play area for small and older children / food is great and lots of different dishes / all the different slides are so cool / the cabana area is beautiful / travel beds for babies are provided / the indoor water area for babies is amazing / you can take your stroller inside

Cons: seriously don´t have any

Playmobil Fun Park

Entrance Fee: 17, 90 € from age 3 and up / free for under 3 year olds

Pros: huge indoor area to play and climb if the weather is bad / coffee and food is definitely available / there are several restaurants on site (but they are really quick giving out food)

Cons: you have to book an online ticket or you won´t get in / every outdoor area has a kind of water playground so it definitely should be warm and sunny weather or you can only do half of it / parking is a few minutes away

Therme Erding

Entrance Fee: 49 € per person / you can get a lower entrance fee by taking lesser hours, like 3 hours are 26 € / babies and younger children are the same than adults

To be perfectly honest – I did not enjoy it a lot. The food was alright but not very good, the baby area was a joke to me for a bath this size. It was super crowded for a weekday and way to huge for us to enjoy it. Also very expensive for a few hours of bathing fun. We won´t come back for a long time, if ever.

Zoo Straubing

Entrance Fee: 7 € / children under 5 are free

Pros: lots of animals to observe / there are hardly empty cages / food is super available

Cons: it gets very crowded around the middle of the day, especially on holidays and weekends / little space to eat at the restaurant area / no possibility of feeding any animals

Cow Café

No entrance fee

Cons: only open on Sundays and Holidays / in the midst of Summer there are soo many flies and it is pretty stinky

Corn Maze

Entrance Fee: 5 € / children under 3 are free

Cons: only seasonably available / no activity for very hot or rainy days / really tricky – took us some time to get out again

Pros: the coffee shop is nearby as well as an outdoor playground for children / parkins is free and not far away

Toddler Road Trip Activity Tote…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate LInks-not sponsored)

Toddlers are the most unpredictable and impatient little fellas you could ever meet. Now put boredom and a long road trip into the mix and you will not be happy with the outcome. Emilia is now a little over three and we already have some trips behind us that went better than expected.

this aren´t the best requirements for a long road trip and that is why I have been putting together a huge tote with lots of surprises to keep the mood up.

What to pack into your toddler road trip tote

Occupations

First of all I have ordered lots of new things off of amazon. They have Melissa & Doug stuff which is both affordable and cute for toddlers.

They have sticker boards, water color writing pads and so much more, perfect for long car rides. Another thing we already got is a busy board. This was a huge hit last year when we spent a few days at Lake Garda, not only in the car but also at restaurants.

Magnets have also been a great hit. The magna tiles or just dolls to dress.

Snacks

It is a save bet to say snacks will works no matter the age. Whether you have cut up fresh fruit or little sandwiches or a container filled with puffs. You need to bring snacks. Our girls like puffs,

Tablet

If everything´s falling apart give them a tablet. Now this is one thing you´ll need to know upfront cause you might want to download some Disney movies or shows or anything else they love and give them an hour (or half an hour) of screen time.

The amazon kids table would also work great plus it has games for different ages as well.

Now this will only work out if

a) you have any kind of that device and take it with you and / or

b) you kid does not get car sick. Fortunately it isn´t the case here (I am not sure if this might come later or is it an impromtu thing – I have heard both). We used our tablet twice and always only for the last hour.

Another great tip we got is taking breaks at rest stops with a playground so that your children can run around and get some energy out, but this will only work if you don´t need a bathroom break earlier than you´d arrive and the weather has to be good too.

Our trip to the Europa Park + our stay at the Colosseo Hotel…

….

(post contains links and places/Werbung/Ortnennung/Verlinkung-not sponsred)

At the end of May we took a trip to the Europa Park in Rust with our girls and while Helena was tagging along just fine, Emilia had the perfect age. We have been a huge group of people cause my parents joined us as well as my husbands parents and his sister with her boyfriend. Everyone loved it and we had a total blast.

The Parc

It is the biggest amusement parc in Germany and I can really tell why. The parc is divided in countries. There is Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Russia, Ireland and so many more. The shops, restaurants and also the rides are down to every detail like it would be in said country. The love for detail is unmatched in anything I have ever seen (except for Disneyland). It is beyond clean. You won´t even find a chewing gum on the ground.

We spent the main part of our day in Ireland – the kids section. There are plenty of rides for smaller kids to go on alone or to ride with parents or an older sibling as well as lots of diaper changing rooms and kids restaurants plus a huge playground and resting area.

But what I really liked and wasn´t aware of is that every other country has 2 to 4 rides for smaller kids as well as the really really fast and dangerous ones. Other things for small kids are all the different shows you can watch. There are some that will only take 15 to 20 minutes which should be fine to keep them entertained. Also there is a huge parade everyday with lots of different characters and the mouse of the Park – Ed.

The Hotel

We stayed at the Colosseo Hotel, one of the Europa Park theme hotels. It really gives you a touch of Italy with the rooms and all the interior decor also if you step outside there is a huge piece of the actual Colosseum of Rome rebuilt into the backyard of the hotel.

If you can I would highly suggest to stay at a theme parc hotel. It makes the experience whole and there are so many merits to it. You have early parc access as well as characters at the breakfast. There are kids pools and wellness and you have a separate entrance to your parc from your hotel.

I just love how kid friendly everything is. People are nice to your kids, you don´t have to apologize for them running around and/or spilling food.

We had a normal room but definitely are going to take two rooms with a connecting door the next time we go cause it is hard to do anything after the kids are asleep. Our room was very italian. We had a huge Leonardo painting over our bed and the curtains had little Cesar heads on them. The attention of details is just so amazing.

The Food

If you are „trapped“ in a parc all day you have to eat there. Even if you take some stuff with you there is no way to stash this much to last for days without a cooling opportunity.

The parc itself as well as the hotels have a lot to offer in terms of food.

Food in the parcs

There are plenty of restaurants you can choose from, always with a great palette of kids menus. There are many booths where you can get waffles, ice cream, coffee and sweets as well as slushies or fruit.

You do not have to have dinner at the hotels but the parc closes at 6 at night (or at least the rides do) so this might be a little stressful to manage.

We had lunch on all three days at the restaurant in Ireland. It had healthy options like salad and chicken as well as burger and fries and super pretty cakes. You can also just have a quick coffee or refreshing drink. The choice is yours. The possibilities are endless. Every country has a bunch of their own restaurants, of course always matching.

Food at the hotels

Not all hotels have the same type of restaurant. For example at the first night we had dinner at our restaurant but you weren´t able to reserve a table upfront so the managed to squeeze us in but it might not always be possible with a group of ten people.

There are several hotels who have their own all-you-can-eat restaurant (like the Bell Rock Hotel – we had dinner there the first time we visited and it was so good I will never forget it) as well as a fine dining option, but to be honest both aren´t a great fit for small children/babies.

If you are a hotel guest you can have dinner in any other hotel as well, you just need to reserver upfront if that is possible, but of course prices are higher than in the parc itself. We had dinner at the Castillo Alcazar Hotel on the second evening and it was beyond delicous. If you go definitely try the Crema Catalana.
