I just love my lipsticks. Even stupid Covid could not keep me from wearing lipstick at home while #selfdistancing and also not from wearing my beloved lipsticks when heading out somewhere and wearing a mask (which let´s be honest is pretty much everywhere these days). I have all kinds of brands and colors and sometimes I come across a color in my drawer that is pretty similar or even the same to another one but less expensive. To be honest this happended quite often, especially after organizing my lipstick drawer and so I went on the search for “pairs”.
This post is in particular interesting if you don´t want to spend a fortune on a lipstick. MAC is pretty expensive as well as the luxury brands Charlotte Tilbury and YSL. I understand it completelty if you are not willing to pay 30 Euro and up for a lipstick especially if you aren´t wearing it all the time so I came up with this lipstick dupe blog post. I have found quite many similar colors so I am going to share another post very soon. I thought splitting it up would be easier cause to much input can be so overwhelming and just annoying.
MAC Matte Persistence // L´Oréal Color Riche Ultra Matte No Cage
Charlotte Tillbury Pillow Talk // MAC Velvet Teddy // Love Lip Affair in 501 Gesine´s Rosewood
L´Oréal Color Riche Matte in 640 Erotique // e.l.f liquid matte lipstick in Tea Rose // YSL Rouge Pur Couture in 92 Rosewood Supreme
e.l.f liquid matte lipstick in praline // MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Burnt Spice
These have been all the nude and pinky nude colors I have found so far. The next lipstick dupe post will be a mixed version. See you soon.
welcome to my new series – a full face of —. Since I love make-up and often try out new products I decided to start a new series on the blog where I create a full face of make-up from one brand. I think this will be really funny and helpful cause we can have a look at a specific item from a variety of brands how it will actually look on the face.
So with no further ado let´s dive into. Oh one quick thing to add. I did not pick my favorite brand at first, I just got the idea while standing in front of the Maybelline counter and started right away. There are tons of drug store brands so we will be having fun with make-up all Summer long into Fall if not into Winter. Which means a great variety on make-up looks as the colors shift from season to season.
A full face of Maybelline…
Face Studio prime primer pore minimizing // I always love to put on a primer underneath my make-up cause my skin never feels smooth like after, but if you use to much it will start to crumble very soon. At least this one. It created an even surface where I needed one (around my nose) and I think it is a good price point.
Dream Radiant Liquid in 01 Natural Ivory // Trying a new foundation is never easy for me. I usually stick with the ones I have and they work great for me so this category is definitely the hardest for me in terms of longwear and color. The color I choose was perfect for my skin so that was a win and I also though it held up really well without drying my skin out. One of the main ingredients is hyaluronic acid so this definitely helps. It is a nice foundation I would use for at home wear so I do not have to use my expensive ones for such mundane days but you can definitely wear it out and about. It has medium coverage and from what I tried it is not buildable. It will look like too much pretty fast. Other than that the Dream Radiant foundation is totally fine.
Fit me matte + poreless powder in 120 Classic Ivory // This powder so reminds me of my teenage years. It was my number one powder I used cause it was so affordable and I still like it. Color 120 Classic Ivory worked very well as a finish for my skintone.
Maybelline Fit me concealer in 20 // It was alright but I am very picky with my concealer to say the least (did not like the shape tape either and that is a worldwide favorite). I might choose a lighter shade next time cause it totally blended in with the shape of my foundation and I like to brighten up my under area as well as hide dark circles.
Fit me blush in 35 Coral // Blushes are still great. I have been using Maybelline Fit me blushes for year (I do have quite the color collection). The coral color looks very light and airy and adds a fresh touch to your cheeks. Perfect for Spring.
Master strobing stick cream highlighter // The first cream highlighter I have ever used and I honestly liked it. The application was so easy and it is very intense so little goes a long way. There are two shades available, this is the rose one. I always stayed away from cream highlighter cause I was told when you have oily skin this will only make your skin shine more but I did not experience this at all.
Total Temptation mascara // I have my go-to mascaras and normally I do not switch them but I was pleasantly surprised about the Maybelline mascara. The brush was great to apply the mascara and it did not smudge or run so overall a great product plus it adds tons of volume.
Master Shape brow pencil in Dark Blonde // To be honest I hate it. It is super soft and I have to sharpen it after every use cause there is not tip left to use and it feels so sticky when I apply it to my brows. This was my least favorite product from the whole make-up look.
Superstay Matte Ink in 60 Poet // Normally I love the Superstay Matte Ink glosses and I probably own ten different colors but this one was hard to work with. Maybe it was because of the light color but it cracked after a few hours and looked horrible on my lips. So when you are out and about you can not just wipe it off and reapplying doesn´t do the trick either. I haven´t had this problem with any other color (but they are all more vibrant or darker). Definitely not going to use it again.
Eyeshadow palette Nudes of New York // To be honest I am usually not an eyeshadow girl. I own a ton of palettes because I love to look at all the beautiful sparkly colors but when it comes to applying I go through phases. Some weeks I apply my eyeshadow everyday and then somehow I forget about it cause it ended up in my drawer. The palette has a good variety of shades so you can get many different eyeshadow looks out of it from casual to dramatic. Price point is also good but in my opinion the powder isn´t as pressed as in other palettes so you don´t get too much on your eyeshadow brush and it won´t come off as pigmented as it shows in the palette. Maybe that is just my opinion cause I have mainly been using the Coastal Scents eyeshadow palettes for over a decade now and they are awesome to apply plus pigmentation is wild. This is a neutral product for me but can absolutely be a winner for someone else.
Lasting Fix setting spray // I only use the MAC setting sprays so compared to those I didn´t like this one at all. In my opinion it doesn´t have a matte finish and doesn´t do anything for my make-up.
it definitely is a tough one today. Emilia didn´t sleep very well so I needed all the coffee and some ice rolling today. The ice roller is such a great and inexpensive tool and there are days in everyone´s life I am sure you´ll need one. I got mine a few years a go after Hayley from Blondie in the City raved about it a lot and I have never needed it more since I had Emilia. I mean she mostly is a good sleeper but some days are just jinxed.
So…
What are the benefits of ice rolling
Ice rolling has several benefits that shouldn´t be missed because they are so easy to achive plus the ice roller is only about 10 Euro and definitely brings great things with it. So here are the awesome benefits I was talking about:
– ice rolling reduces swelling (much needed after hard nights)
– boosts circulation which is helping to restore cells
– can instantly reduce redness
– can shrink the size of your pores
– can calm inflammation
– helps to keep my headache at a minimum (at least for me but it is worth a try if you get really strong migraines)
I definitely use it a lot these days. I keep it in my fridge cause it gets uncomfortably cold in the freezer plus it doesn´t roll as smooth when the plastic gets to cold.
Hopefully we get more sleep tonight, so see you tomorrow.
let´s talk about Spring a little today. I am personally not the biggest fan of Spring. I never was to be honest. The only season I love is Fall but since we have been home in light lockdown or full lockdown for over a year now I desperately need Spring as “new beginning” and it helps that our little girl´s birthday is the day after tomorrow.
A think I love is the fresh and lingering smell of Spring in the air. The winds are getting warmer and the trees and flowers are finally starting to get green and blossom.
Scents are a very personal thing. Not everyone loves another´s fragrance and vice versa. Scents come out differently on skin than on clothes and it even depends on which body part you put them.
The perfume I am sharing today ticks all the boxes and I found it by coincidence. I ordered the set including the matching shower gel back in November to use it as a stocking stuffer but ended up using it by myself because the scent is so so so good. I am not exagerating. I got so many compliments and my grandma wanted the same scent for her brithday.
Aqua Colonia practically is the young and improved version of the 4711 cologne. The scent I got is Grapefruit & Pink Pepper. It smells so good. Fruity and delicious, I just love it. All of the scents which are available are fruits mixed with a spice.
Perfumes can be so pricey and this one is so affordable. The small size is under 30 Euro which is a great price.
I also have the Lemongras & Nutmeg and Safran & Iris. All of the scents are supposed to have another feature. Mine are calming, refreshing and euphorizing.
Tomorrow is going to be a huge prepping day for Emilia´s first birthday. We are making a balloon arch and I have never done that before so wish me luck.
