Patriotic cake bars and happy 4th of July….

….

Hi my friends,

(post contains affiliate links / Werbung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links)

I am wishing everyone a happy 4th of July today. We are not celebrating this day here in Germany but anyways I have made baked this pretty cake on the weekend. It is totally adorable and so machting with the colors of the flag. Precisley because it is so easy to make it would be a really nice desert for a BBQ.

The dough is the same as I make my sugar cookies with for Christmas but this time you put it all together into a pan. I am also sure the ingredients for this cake bars are sitting on the shelves in every kitchen.

For the dough you need:
– 175 gr. butter
– 2 eggs
– 1 tablespoon vanilla
– 150 gr. sugar
– 330 gr. flour
–  1 tablespoon baking soda
–  1/2 tablespoon salt

– mix the butter and sugar first, add the eggs and vanilla slowly
– add the flour, salt and baking powder
– put the mixture into a baking pan (be sure to put a sheet of baking paper underneath)
– bake for  13 minutes at 190° C
– the dough has to be super soft and raw looking
– let it cool down before you add the frosting

For the frosting (this is something I make a little different every time I need one cause I use what I have):
 – lemon zest
–  cream cheese
– butter (room temperature)
– confectioners sugar

I didn´t meassure and in my opinion you don´t have to. Just make sure the frosting has the consistency and taste you like. I also put it into the freezer for about 15 minutes before spreading it onto the cake.

Now garnish with sprinkles or M&M´s or chocolate or whatever you like and you have one yummy and delish desert.

And if you should need some last minute outfit inspiration too here is my current post and also what I have styled last year here and here.
As always thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful holiday. Take care. See you.

How I clean and maintain my make-up brushes….

…..

Hi guys,
(post contains affiliate links / Werbung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links)
let´s talk beauty today. I love my make-up brushes and if you are a little like me you don´t switch them that often or never get a new one (I only have one blush brush I am using all the time and if it ever gets lost I probably get a physical meltdown :)). So with that said I am taking good care of  my brushes to guarantee them a long life.

I let them soak for about half an hour in warm water and also rinse with warm water after the cleansing process. I make sure all the surplus water is gone and lay them on a kitchen towel or and actual towel to dry. Take about a day.

First of all you need soap. Whether you are using a dish soap or a Dove soap, actual soap is really recommended for deep cleansing your brushes. I am using the real techniques brush cleansing gel and I love it. Somehow it manages to get all the dirt out very quick. Also it makes my brushes smell fresh and makes the hairs look nice and new again.

If you just want to freshen them up quickly you can use the essence brush cleansing spray. This is really just a compromise. But if you are on the run..

Another thing you want want to use it this pink make-up brush cleaner. The different structures on the pad help so much on cleaning your brushes. Be aware of how much dirt is coming out. This was the actual point to wash my bruhes more often cause you don´t want to apply all this old make-up again and again to your face.
I have listed the pad below along with some other options. Cheaper and pricier.

Overall it takes some time but the upsides are much more convincing cause your brushes are going to last longer and look fresh and new and also your skin might profit from clean brushes since you are not applying all the germs which are hidden inside the brush head.

Which products do you use for cleaning your brushes? And do you have a routine?

Thanks for stopping by. Take care. See you.

2 patriotic looks for the 4th of July – dressy casual and sporty chic…

….
Hi guys,
(post contains affiliate links / Werbung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links)
I
am sharing two great 4th of July inspired looks with you today. The
color combination red, blue and white always gets me and I also love to
wear it throughout the year. So for this years holiday look I have
styled two outfits depending on where you are headed to celebrate such an
important day in history.

Be sure to check back for an awesome U.S. themed cake on Wednesday. I am sure you have all the ingredients at home.

First of all I love a white button down. It is chic on one side and can be dressed up in so many ways and on the other hand it is a total staple item to my closet and if I am in need of a quick look I put on a button down / pair of jeans combo and leave the house. But that doesn´t mean that you look isn´t changeable. I added a pair of red espandrilles and a red headband to the look. Also lipstick totally matched the red hues of my outift. The bag is from Tommy Hilfiger and a sale find from years ago but totally matches the red, white and blue stars theme. I would categorize this look as dressy casual since it is not to much to still wear to a casual ocassion but a button down is a lot more dressier than a t-shirt.

I would say this look is sportive chic not only sporty. And how gorgeous is the stars & stripes pullover I ordered from Asos. The brand is called Pull & Bear and a total match for the theme, also it is super soft insid so you won´t freeze if the night gets chilly. I have worn it the whole weekend here. Hasn´t been that warm.
Of course I wanted to go on with the same color theme for my second look. The blue dress I am wearing is about 4 years old but you can get a blue shirt dress almost everyhwere. Also my handbag is still available. Oldie but goldie. Needless to say more.
Another real American classic is my matching pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers. Totally love them. They work for so many looks and add such a cool and sportive vibe to the look.

since the Soccer world championship controlls our TV program I am all about finding new recipes to at least eat something self-made in front of the game.
This jalapeno dip is awesome for watching a game, a movie or even for a BBQ.
It is super easy and quick to make and also tastes great. You can use all the ingredients you prefer and make as much as you are craving.
 Ingredients:
– cream cheese
– garlic (minced)
– chives
– parsley
jalapenos (remove the cors if you don´t like it as hot)
– a red pepper
– grated cheese
– chrackers to dip (you could also eat it with a slice of bread)

I did not include meassurements cause you really don´t have to. Just cut every ingredient into small pieces and throw them together as you like it. I didn´t season at all but you can use salt and pepper as much as you prefer.

Hope you are all have some great weekend plans. At least I know what we are doing 😉

Thanks for stopping by. Take care. See you.
