and happy Tuesday. Tonight has the half of my work week passed and there are only two more days to go before the weekend yeah. I ordered some beauty products I have read about and I am dying to try them out as soon as they arrive and we are also planing a BBQ (set some recipes aside I want to try). Didn´t have enough time last week and the weather wasn´t the best despite the forecast. 

But now that Spring is coming back we are not only able to have a BBQ on the weekend I am also sharing my top Spring and Summer lipsticks for the warmer weather and all the bright dresses we are going to wear.

So let´s go by category. Might be a little easier to understand cause I go a little crazy with anything lipstick related. 


glossy and sheer color

This type usually reminds me of a beach vacation cause all you need is hydration and a hint of color on your lips. I have found some pretty good items to fullfill this task. First of all the L´Oréal Color Riche Shine. In comparsion to all the matte lipsticks this one is pretty light and shiny. There are several great colors for summer. From rose to red they all fit. A welcome change for the hotter months. It is hydrating and in my opinion is also lasts pretty long. Great catch for 11 Euro. The color I am showin is called “Trending”.
The second lip color I am sharing is an alltime and longtime favorite of mine. The Kiko Milano Creamy Lipgloss. This is more a lip crayon than a lipstick but I love it and it fullfils its purpose. They have a huge color range on this product but the only color I have ever bought is the bright red shade (color 105 Fire Red). It is my third one in two years. It is about 7 Euros and my absolute favorite product every year.

Of course we should also incorporate a trending color since the color of the year is ultra violet and it is definitely possible to wear this one as a lip color. 

I got these two lip colors from Avon. The lighter one is also a sheer but very lovely light orchid shade and the darker color is like mixture of a pink with a bright purple. So pretty. Since you can only order Avon through your sales contact I have listed some similar items below.


nude and matte
Since I am not in the mood for a popping color everyday – let´s say 5 out of 7 – I also got a myself covered with a nude shade in my beauty bag. The L´Oréal Lip Paint Matte is like a gloss but with a heavier and thicker consistency of the product. It is a matte shade and the color is pretty light but it covers really good. The product comes in a tube with an applicator. It costs about 8 Euro and in my opinion it is really worth it. The color is called 208 Off White.


classic deep red matte shade
This one is never out of style. The perfect red differs for every woman cause of the skin and teeth color but every and I mean EVERY woman should own a classic red lipstick.


I prefer wearing matte shades and one of my favorite is the MAC Russian Red shade. A darker and deep red shade. It is pretty similar to Domination from the cooperation of Balmain and L´Oréal. MAC lipsticks are usually pricier than the other brands I purchase but it there exists a color I am totally sold on I have to have it. And they last when you are rotating your colors a lot. About 25 Euro.

Good morning ladies and happy Friday,

let´s talk beauty today. A few weeks ago a company called Mikasa reached out to me if I was interested in testing their products. They are selling make-up brushes and after a quick look on their site I was thrilled and wanted to try them immidiately. 

In fact I was on the hunt for a new set of eyeshadow brushes so this chance came in the right time. I got the Essential brow set and plus one eyeshadow brush for free. Obviously it was a test run before actually launching this extra brush.

They arrived after a few weeks (came from Canada and I am here in Germany) I started to test them. I have been using them fo about 6 weeks now and I must admit I have one definite favorite.

E100 Angled Liner Brush
For the main color of eyeshadow on my lids I am using this brush and it is perfect for getting a solid shade on. 

E200 Angled Eyeshadow Brush
I am using this brush for blending in my eyeshadow and it works just fine. The hairs have the right amount of strength to blend the color beautifully. 

E400 Double Ended Brow Brush
This is my favorite brush. The double ends are perfect to do your eyebrows. You can comb it with the one side and fill them in with the other side. The brush is perfect to put on your eyebrow powder. It really takes up a lot of powder and it is soft but not to soft. 

E220 Concealer Brush
Although this is a concealer brush I am using it for drawing a thin line of eyeshadow on the outer corner of my lower lash line. This works perfectly since the brush is so thin.
Overall the set is great and the brushes are made of good quality. Another good reason to get them is that they are made of synthetic hair cause I can´t use brushes made of real hair, they cause an allergic reaction on my skin.

Lip stains – tried, tested and loved – drug store and MAC….

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor – 645 Éternité
I haven´t been using Revlon for a few years now so I obviously missed the point where it came back to German drug stores. 
I picked a gloss and a view other things but I have to used them first before saying anything about it. 
The gloss so far is great, it is super pigmented and it smells so good. The color is a pretty nude with a rosy undertone. This is definitely a perfect color for Spring. Totally goes with every rose, blush and pink top you are wearing. But it doesn´t dry on your lips, this is more a gloss than a lip stain. Although I really like it. About 11 Euro.
Iconic tube – check. Super pigmented color – check. Bold pink shade – check. Dries perfectly – check. Stays very long – check. The only downside it has – in my opinion – it sticks a little before it dries but obviously it has too since it is no powder. Totally recommend this one. About 26 Euro.
I was totally surprised by this one. Great pigmentation. Dries very quickly and stays a long time. The pink is such a great color for Spring. Can´t wait to wear this one with a white blouse. There are also lots of other colors available. Also great price point for about 7 Euro.
This one wasn´t nearly as pigmented as I thought. I is a little sheer and the color is more of a neon than a deeper purple but since it is the Pantone 2018 color I had to try it. It definitely needs some touch ups and it doesn´t dry completely. The quality isn´t as good as I thought since their lipsticks are great. Would not buy another one the mattes. About 8 Euro.
This was no stranger to me. They have lip laquers with other finishes which I also own. The red is really pretty. Got this for Christmas time but I think it works year round. But it is more on the glossy side. It has a matte finish but it doesn´t dry very good. About 6 Euro.
This one really surprised me (so much that I also got a second color) a lot. First of all it is not drying totally but although it is longlasting.The color is great. It is a different one for me. Usually I am not using a mauve kind of color but you know sometimes you gotta step out of your comfort zone. I totally fits for several colors and looks. The finish is very matt, like the tube says and for about 3 Euro there is nothing to complain. 
This is a really pretty color. Such a great nude hue. Matches every outfit. I like that it has a matte finish but it doesn´t dry very good. Also it lasts. So this really is a good every day lip look. About 6 Euro.

trend it up ultra matte lipcream – color 51
This one makes an okay gloss. It is okay for over a lipstick. But it doesn´t dry and it doesn´t hold very long or very good. Also it feels very slippery on my lips. About 3 Euro.
Super stay is the theme here guys. This one holds up incredibly. I was out for dinner this evening and when we came home I took a shower and afterwards it was still there. The color lasts incredible. Had to remove it with an eyeshadow remover cause nothing else workes. Although I thought it would be a lighter red hue than it really is. It darkens when it dries. And the one thing I didn´t like at all is that is sticks. Even when it is all dryed it still sticks.

by knowing that I am a lipstick addict – yes guilty – you might not be surprised that I have expanded my area from lipsticks to lip stains. I am a lover of bold and bright colors but I also like my lip color to stay in its place. So the idea of a lip stain is perfect. 

I have picked out different colors, brands and price points and tested each one for a few days and boy there was a difference.

Of couse I am going to keep them all cause all the colors are adorable but I probably gonna use them in a different way not only as a pure gloss.

Update: A few days after shooting this post I found another great lip stain when I was at the Kiko Milano store. The Instant color matte liquid lip color. I got color 09 rose mauve and color 10 dark mauve and I love them. They dry right away. The colors I got are pretty pigmented and they last several hours no matter what your are doing. They are available in a bunch of different colors. About 10 Euro.

My beauty buys and favorites December / January….

I am back with another recap of my tried and tested beauty products from the last two months. Wow – time is indeed moving fast. There had been some pieces I got for Christmas and some I got as a Christmas present but they are still available and in fact have not much to do with Christmas.


Weleda almond face lotion
I am almost always on the search for a new face lotion which works for my skin. I have tried from oils to mists to water-based lotions and somehow I haven´t found a product I am satisfied yet. I got this face lotion from Weleda about six weeks ago and I do like it. It is for combination skin which I have and it hydrates my skin enough to not wake up to itching skin in the morning BUT the smell is so bad. Do you remember playing wiht PlayDo as a child? This immediately reminded me of that. Same smell as the modeling clay I played with when I was a child.



IsaDora Cover Up foundation and concealer in color 62 nude
This was one product I was lucky to get cause it is awesome. I have never used this brand before so I wasn´t quite interested in getting their products but my MIL gave a product sample to me at the beginning of December which matched my skin color perfectly, so I gave it a try and I have been using it ever since. Already got the full size. The coverage of this product is awesome. You only need one and a half (or even just one pump, depends on what tool you are using to apply) pump of foundation and it covers your skin evenly and hides blemishes or red spots perfectly. I am using nude and the color works perfectly for me. You can´t tell a difference The only tiny downside is, that it needs to set in for about 5 minutes. So you should really wait a little before applying powder or blush.
essence lash princess sculpted volume mascara
This one was a recommendation of a beauty blogger (Emily from The Sweetest Thing). She was raving about it on her Instagram and so I thought I might give it a try cause I only have one mascara I like and use. This product is great. I don´t know if it is the formula or the brush by itself or those two combined but it makes the perfect mascara. She told that this one would sell out quickly and she was right. It took me about 4 weeks to find it. For 3 Euros you can´t go wrong so be sure to get some back-ups too cause you don´t want to miss using this product.



Estée Lauder Sumptous Volume Lifting mascara
If you don´t have a budget you have to look at or you wan´t to splurge on a mascara I would definitely recommend this mascara. I have tried it the weeks before I got the one from essence and I loved it just as much. It shapes your lashes perfectly and gives them more length. The brush also divides all the hairs so it looks like you have a super thick lashes. It is about 25 Euro but it lasts a long time so I would definitely recommend this one.



MAC satin lipstick in color Snob
I am a huge lover of all lipsticks and especially when it comes to MAC lipsticks I am out of my mind. Since I am a frequent reader of Pink Peonies and this is Rachel´s favorite color to wear I ordered it too cause I loved the look of the color on her pictures. She combined it with the MAC lipliner in color Soar but I didn´t end up liking the combo since the frame around your lips is in a much darker shade then and I never was a fan of this trend but I love both color and I am using them frequently but not combined. The lipstick has a satin finish which is a really nice change to all the matte lipsticks I´ve been using on a daily base. Also the color is such a nice and fresh pink shade but it has a little blueish undertone.



MAC lipliner in Soar
This was the first lipliner I ever purchased from MAC and I really love it. It works for many of my darker pink lipsticks. You could also use it as a lipstick too cause it last pretty long and the color is a matte one which is so trenday and it doesn´t dry out your lips at all.



MAC strobe cream
I got this as a little giveaway for my Black Friday order. It is the perfect size for travel. I am using it for my under eye area and I have been loving it so far. This size is about 18 Euro and it might last pretty long cause you only need a teeny tiny bit of this product otherwise you are shining really bad. This mostly has its use at the end of the week cause I am getting more tired every day and this creates a nice glow. Would definitely recommend this.



Essie nail polish Angora Cardie and Jamaica Me Crazy
Of course there had to be two new nailpolishes this month – what only two!! – but I have my eye on Spring colors too now. 
I got the color Angora Cardie the most posted color on the whole social media scene – so I might be the last person who got this color so late. It is kind of a dark dusty rose shade and I love it. The color is so so pretty. In fact it suits for every season and I now understand why the color is so famous.
Another one I got was the color Jamaica Me Crazy. In fact I didn´t want this one first cause I actually  went for Bahama Mama but I already had a similar shade. Jamaica me crazy is the perfect mixture of pink and purple and it love that it has a metallic finish. After all the mattes everywhere it is time to get some new glam onto my nails.

Gucci Bloom perfume
I got this for Christmas and I love it. I already used it before cause I got small samples from time to time and the smell is just too delicious. It is fresh and flowery but with a hint of sweetness. Also the flacon reminds of the 70´s style.  



Wella Wellaflex volume spray
 Bought this at the drug store cause my mom stole my Living Proof volume product and I needed one right away so I couldn´t wait for the order to arrive. In fact it is pretty good for the price. I think it is about 4 Euro. I used it after washing my hair and then I dried my hair upside down and after combing through the volume stayed. But you should be careful with the amount your are using cause if it is too much it kind of glues your hair together and leavea such a gross sticky feel.




  
L´occitane hand creme
This was a great find. I got a sample size to try it out and found the hand creme of my dreams. The smell is awesome. Just so good and it is really thick and nourishing. I am always on the hunt for a great hand cream since working with dry paper the whole day makes my hands so dry that they start hurting from time to time. The price is a little high but I definitely would recommend this if you want something great smelling and nourishing at once.
