I have great news for all my Starbucks loving coffee fellows. Starbucks now offers coffee pods for your at home coffee maschines. I couldn´t believe my eyes as I saw them in the supermarket the other day. They offer three or four different flavors. If you are living like me with the nearest Starbucks about 80 to 100 km away you will really appreciate this.
Needed to get them right away and took the Grande Toffee Nut flavored and the Caramel Macchiato home with me. We have a Dolce Gusto coffee maker in our office so this is my personal little coffee corner now.
I haven´t been enjoying coffee that much at the beginning of my pregnancy. In fact I couldn´t smell it at all without getting sick but now I am almost back to my normal cravings. Although I have to look after my coffeine intake.
The toffee nut blend really smells and tastes awesome. You can refine it with some whipped cream and nut brittle on top just like you would get at Starbucks. Believe me it tastes awesome.
On the other side the caramel macchiato for sure is a real staple drink. I myself prefer soy milk but you can not choose the milk in the capsules so it will be fine as long as its Starbucks. I have been drinking it like this but you could also add some caramel syrup on top of your hot drink.
It really is a great alternative also if you are having a Starbucks nearby cause a pack of 16 or 8 coffee capsules costs about 5 Euro and that is also the amount for one coffee.
Are you a coffee lover? Espeacially a Starbucks fan or don´t you mind where your coffee is from ?
we are in the middle of Fall which means we are in the middle of pumpkin season and I try to make as much pumpkin related dishes as possible until the season is over. So if you want to spice up your average pumpkin soup this recipe is for you.
I am not the biggest fan of pumpkin soup but I tried it again this year with differfent spices and it turned out to be a huge hit. We have eaten a huge pot of it in two days so I am gonna make some fresh soup next week as long as I can get good and tasty pumpkins.
So here is what you need:
– small sized pumpkin
– two onions
– vegetable broth
– chilli flakes
– ground caraway
– cut the pumpin in small pieces / cut the onions in quarters
– put it into a big pot and fill it up with vegetable broth, the pumpkin should be covererd up about 2 cm
– cook on high until the pumpkin is soft and then puree until it´s super smooth
– spice up your soup and let is simmer for about another 30 minutes to so that the taste of the spices can develop properly
To garnish I added pumpkin seeds and sour cream. Delicious!
I finally have another Food Friday post for you today. I have been kind of undecided by what to share in terms of recipes. I have cooked a bunch of Crock Pot recipes but want to try out some more before posting my review. So in honor of the first big upcoming holiday I decided to make these fun Halloween inspired sugar cookies with royal icing.
The reason I have decided to use royal icing for my cookies is that other than frosting it dries hard and doesn´t smear all over the other cookies.
I have never worked with royal icing before. It wasn´t to hard but you definitely have to get adjusted to working with it and it´s also a time race as it starts to get hard the minute you stop stiring. I got a big package of white royal icing and colored it with Wilton Icing Color – these are my favorites. I bought a whole set including a ton of different colors. The colorful lines on the bats and smaller pumpkins are made of chocolate. I got different colored chocolate pens to draw on the cookies. And since it is made of chocolate is cool very quickly and doesn´t smear.
The sugar cookie recipe is from Rachel Parcell´s blog Pink Peonies and it is enough for plenty of cookies. It is enough to make about 6 to 7 batches.
This is my Halloween contribution for this year. I wanted to make a really cool and spooky drink for you guys but just haven´t had the time to figure something out. But I will definitely have one for you next year.

I am sharing another Food Friday blog post over here today including one of my favorite meals ever. Whether it is for breakfast as a snackor even for dinner. Having an avocado toast is not only a trendy but healthy choice.
I was first introduced to avocado´s visiting a befriended family in Florida about 12 years ago. Long before the hype started. They grew a huge avocado tree in their garden and made sure to eat one a day. The couple is from Guatemala and told us that besides a shot of tequila every day, avocado´s would benefit your health a lot. Maybe the tequila thing is wrong but avocado holds many health benefits.
To name a few….
– avocado´s are incredible nutritious
– avocado´s are loaded with heart-health fatty acids
– avocado´s are loaded with fiber
– avocado´s are loaded with powerful antioxidants
Just to name a few. Here is the full article about this powerful nut. Yes, they belong to the family of nuts.
So for my favorite avocado toasts I made one with smoked salmon and one with scrambled eggs and mozzarella cheese. These are my favorite two combinations ever.
In fact you could pair a lot more with your avocado like lentils or tomatoes if you like. The options are endless.
Do you have a favorite combo for your avocado toast or aren´t you on the team??
Thanks for stopping by and have a nice weekend eveyone.
