How cute is this colorful printed pleated skirt? It is a really nice one. I personally love printed pieces cause they can be combined with so many different plain colored pieces as long as the color is in the pattern.
For this look I went with a white t-shirt knodded in the front. If you have an oversized shirt it is so easy to make it look cooler than a normal tee.
Have you spotted the shoes I am wearing!! Yep, that´s right, those are the espadrilles I wear in white all the time. I have found them in three other colors for the season and can´t wait to wear them all. They are seriously the best Summer shoes ever.
It is finally warm enough to shoot my bathing suit looks the next couple of days so there will be more Summer looks soon enogh. Although there isn´t a place to wear other than our gardens or local lakes as we are still staying at home most of the days and definitely not going to go on vacation anytime soon.
With all the quarantine restrictions due to Covid 19 we have been facing for the last few months on a daily basis lots of people have gotten super creative in terms of renovating their homes or exploring their inner Martha Stewart and have been cooking and baking ever since. I for myself had a baby which was also time consuming so my first DIY project took me awhile.
But today I am finally sharing my DIY tie-dye shirt on my little corner on the internet. After looking at so many shirts I could never find a piece I loved and if I did it mostly was sold out or super expensive so after watching a ton of YouTube video I decided to make my own – Mommy and Me version.
How to Tie-Dye your own shirts?
So I ordered a tie-dye kit off of amazon and thought by myself how hard could it be, I mean thousands of people already done it. I was quite confident to start on the pieces (I got a pair of longsleeves and t-shirts from H&M as they also carry baby clothing) but felt a little overwhelmed after mixing the paint but I went on how I wanted to die our clothes and to be honest I think they turned out great for a first time.
The method I used for our shirts is called the crinkle method and probably the easiest of all. You just crinkle your shirts together and fixate them with a rubber band (much easier with the baby bodies as they didn´t take up to much space but my shirts, even crinkled, where quite large so I managed to color, flip and put them into a ziplock bag without). Also I soaked the shirts with a vinegar water solution for about an hour upfront cause it said that the color is supposed to hold and look better after.
After letting the color set for about 4-6 hours you can rinse each shirt with cold water and wash afterwards. The color with get a little lighter but still looks beautiful. Let it air dry and you are good to go.
Some tips:
– blue is the most pigmented color so I would recommend to wear gloves even to rinse it off as otherwise your hands will stay blue for some time
– plastic foil also works to keep it damp but a ziplock bag is the best
It was so much fun and I probably make another bunch with more difficult patterns cause I have so much color left. Some baby socks or/and a neckerchief for our dog would be great.
As of now I am pretty impressed with how easy it has been and I for myself think I got great results.
There hve never been so many different denim styles to choose from then nowadays. I personally love a great bootcut over every other style but to be honest mine are all a tad to long so I can only wear them with heels and often heels and a new baby don´t match so I have been on the lookout for a different style I would like and I came over mom jeans.
What are Mom Jeans ?
The style is high-waisted which is pretty flattering and sucks you in on the right places plus the pants are loose on the butt and thigh area and get tighter along the ankles.
Mine is from H&M and I got a high ankle style cause I think they are much more flatering if they hit above your ankle than underneath.
I paired my moonwashed mom jeans with a cute white peplum shirt and a neon pink cardigan to add some color. It has been a gloomy day so pink never fails to pick up my mood.
I am totally crazy for band shirts. Since the trend became really hot last year I have collected a bunch of pieces of very different bands. Some I have listened to a lot and some of them are new. I really don´t know what it is. Maybe it´s the vibrant colors or the different picutres of the bands. I just love them and that means a lot cause I have never been a huge fan of t-shirts on their own but band shirts somehow fit great with many pieces.
For this look for example I have paired my band t-shirt with a black a-line summer skirt. An all black look would have been to harsh for summer so I added a bunch of orange accessories to the outfit.
So for the rest of the week I have a beauty, DIY and a recipe post coming for you. I have a bunch of posts I can´t wait to share with you guys, especially beauty posts have become my favorites lately allthough they take time in preparation upfront cause I am testing all the products and the reviews are also much to write.
Since it will be warm here for at least a week I am wearing as much Summer clothing as possible as I am sure it will rain again soon.
I hope you enjoyed another way of styling a band t-shirt.
