Who else is always hot in the Summer and constantly looking for a refreshment. This can be a little inflatable pool in your garden with ice cold water or the air condition in your car but also a delicious refreshing drink.

How To

I personally enjoy a carbonated drink over any other so we have been using the Soda Stream for a few years now to always have fresh and sparkly water at home.

In both of my pregnancies I had to stay as sugar free as possible because of the gestational diabetes so I have looked for other ways to get some flavor into my drinks cause soft drinks were not allowed. I have found out that Soda Stream offers lots of sugar free syrups so I got a bunch and tried them. To be honest I was very surprised cause what I got tasted pretty good. Started with Berry and Cherry I also got Orange (tastes like Fanta) and Lemon (tastes like Sprite). They also offer a Coke syrup but I am team Diet Coke for life so there is no way I am going to try this.

The handling of the Soda Stream is very easy. You take your bottle and fill it with tap water and then put it into the Soda Stream. There is a button on top and you can press it as often as you like. It gets more and more carbonated with each push. We do around 4 to 6 but we like it sparkly.

I am not drinking much alcohol in the Summer. It is just too hot and I don´t need to add anything that makes me sweat. Also with being pregnant and breastfeeding there was no room for alcohol as well so I tried to pimp my sparkly lemonade with little cocktail umbrellas, slices of citrus fruits, colorful straws and fancy glasses. Gotta tell you it is a total mood booster to hold a fancy drink in my hand.

It also helps to prevent plastic garbage cause you won´t by nearly as much beverages as you have before. Definitely  a plus to help keeping the environment cleaner.

Are you a fan of sparkly drinks ? Have you ever heard of Soda Stream?

FYI: I prepared this blog post before our baby girl arrived so there would still be fresh content on the blog while I am taking a break from blogging. That’s why you’ll still see me pregnant or referencing my pregnancy in some upcoming blog posts!

After six years of living in this house and two attemps I have finally finished our office to the last detail. It has taken me so much time and to be honest I just don´t know why. I have started the renovation process October 19 and then the pandemic hit and my husband used it to work from home and after that we had a baby so it became a little less important for me to get it done but it never went out of my mind.

Our office hasn´t always been an office, most of the time inbetween it was more of a junk room full of boxes, stuff I needed to return, coats and spiders. I really couldn´t be more glad and I love how it turned out plus the vibrant and dark green wall color definitely is a favorite in our house.

Office Color Theme

As I already said the color theme of our office is a little darker and much modier than the rest of our house. I have two forest green walls and two bright white walls and the contrast is absolutely stunning. The dark green color looks amazing with the all white furniture. I wanted to keep it mostly in these two colors (green carpet and armchair, white furniture) and only added silver accents through decoration.

Beverage Corner

This might be a little too fancy for a home office and maybe also totally pointless but I love it. I have seen that some offices have beverage carts and the thought of just turning around and making a cup of coffee or getting a glass of diet coke seems pretty great to me. I outsourced one of my old coffee machines into our office. The cups and sugar / milk are in the left top drawer and if you want to enjoy some soda you can choose between San Pellegrino and Diet Coke my two favorites. Not necessary but super cool.

Computer / Desk Area

This would be the normal area in an office but what is normal these days!!! The desk we have in our office is really old. I already used it as a school girl so this is a real sustainable piece I have used for more than 15 years now. Initially it was dark brown but I stained it white with a chalk color to achive this used look and I still like how it turned out. The three drawers on the left are used for all of my notebooks and computer related cables other than that they are empty. To the left of the desk is a little station that hides all the cables, those are a lot!!! And the two little side tables are also perfect to for the printer to sit on. I also have a little fashion and style inspo board with tons of outfits I have loved to stay inspired.

Reading Nook

We definitely both love to read although there hasn´t been that much time left since Emilia is here. Nevertheless both of us brought lots of books into this marriage whether it was novels or text books from my husbands work. I had to find nice storage place for them other than pilling them up behind the armchair. So I got these two billy shelves and I am really happy how this little nook turned out. I found a place to put all of our souvenirs as well and some of my decor to place inbetween the books. The forest green armchair with the soft and cozy fur complements the reading nook. I ended up getting a side table / foot rest cause first of all it looked uncomplete without and second of all this is really practically / comfortable while reading.

Storage

As far as storage goes there is plenty in the new office. From the Malm dresser with lots of drawers to the Billy shelves where I store all of our books and important documents to the drawers of the desk and the boxes of the Kallax. Many of the drawers and boxes are still empty which isn´t bad because with a growing family there will always be a need for storage. All of the furniture (except the desk) are from Ikea and linked (if still available) above.

I personally love Ikea and that all of their pieces are compatible colorwise plus they are still affordable although the prices have increased a lot since the pancdemic and availability isn´t always given.

So that´s it. Now you have seen our updated office. Took us only six years to share with you guys.

Emilia´s Arts and Craft Corner…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate LInks-not sponsored)

Building this art corner has been one of the best ideas I had this year. We gifted Emilia the art easel and all the supply for her second birthday cause she loves to draw and it was a huge hit. We might have a little artist on our hands 🙂 but all jokes aside I think it is perfect for her age. She likes to draw all by herself or with one of us. It definitely keeps her occupied and happy.

I got most of the stuff from amazon as well as a local store but you can get many of the things like stickers and glitter glue or stamps at your local dollar store, I am sure about that.

The art cart itself is from Ikea and stuffed with great items to draw, color and do handikraft. I got lots of boxes and cups to keep it as neat as possible and so far it has worked great. The paper divider is from amazon and perfect to store the sticker sheets, construction and glitter paper as well as the little sheets of foam rubber. I am sure we are going to do lots of crafts with all these things.

As far as I can see there are hundreds of cute things you could add to your cart. You just need to decide which theme you want to follow and also what you or your little one enjoys.

Bathroom Update – Wall Paint and Floating Shelves…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate LInks-not sponsored)

Our bathroom has always been such an eyesore to me. It is dark, boring and although it is a huge room there is no space to put things and it also has hardly storage.

I have been trying to improve it and it has turned out better, at least the area I have updated. I changed decor, addded some paint and swapped out all the colorful towels and carpets for plain white pieces to add some light hues. Personally I hate the dark tiles but we don´t want to spend the time and money to change it since it isn´t that old and nothing is broken plus the dust and dirt for weeks will not be fun.

The changes I have made in our bathroom

First of all I added this gray pattern to the white wall because I didn´t want to paint it fully and I thought this might add some interest and I think it really does (I have found it on Alexa Anglins blog page). For the paint I just went with a middle gray hue that has been mixed already (the German version is Schöner Wohnen – Vollton- & Abtönfarbe in Gray).

I made my own mold out of a simple sponge. Just cut it with a  scissor. You are totally free in terms of size and shape this way. I have tested it out on cardboard until I was satisfied with it to go on the wall. It doesn´t have nor shouldn´t look perfect. That´s what makes it look interesting otherwise I could have gone with wallpaper.

Now on to decoration – these cute floating shelves are from Ikea (the shelf is called Bergshult and available in several sized and colors) and they are the perfect addition to the space. I decided to go with all gray cause the white ones looked a little cheap. They have a trim on the front side which makes them look way more expensive.

The decor is held in the all the colors the bathroom is – black, white and hues of gray. I have found some really special pieces that reflect the character of the room and give it a little live and interest.

Decorating a bathroom really isn´t the easiest task but in my opinion it turned out pretty great.
