since New Years Eve is just around the corner I wanted to share some festive ideas for the host or the staying at home gal. We decided to stay in this year and make cheese fondue. Our first plan was to go out for fondue but every restaurant has a special menu for New Years Eve so you can only eat this and nothing else.
Cheese fondue is pretty easy to make as it only has a handfull of ingredients and simmers by itself which gives you time to prepare all the food you want to dip in or eat it with.
We decided to go with bread, steak and some vegetables. You really don´t need a lot of it as it quickly fills you up but it is so so so delicious, I mean what is not to love about melted cheese??!!
For the table decor I went all in with glitz and glam like golden and silver glitter and a sparkly table runner with matching napkins. I personally love a matching table. The golden plates are the same I used for Christmas but another color. In fact I think I have about 5 different colors of them as they always work great for ocassions like this.
A classic mix of black, gold and silver is my favorite for New Years but you could also get really creative and use navy and silver dinnerware or anything else you like.
Do you have plans for NYE already ? Are you hosting or going out ?
I hope you had a great weekend. The only purpose of our weekend was eating. I guess there are days were it is the only thing that sounds great. And oh boy we had a bunch of awesome meals.
Speaking of meals, as you might know I am hosting a family Christmas dinner on the first Christmas holiday each year and I love myself a pretty table scape. I have done plenty throughout the year but one of my favorite is always Christmas. There are just more possibilities for Christmas than any other holiday of the year.
For this years Christmas table scape I went with red as our tree is red as well and I have to admit I wasn´t so happy with my idea at first but found some pretty great pieces on amazon that changed my mind.
The poinsettia table runner is a real beaut and I totally love how it looks with the metallic red plates. From here I decided to go with golden cutlery cause the gold also is in the runner. I had the white napkin rings for ages and never used them cause they never really fit but there is a time for everything and the time is now. To add a playful touch to the table I added candy canes to the napkins. Not only do they fit in theme and color they also add a nice little guest present to the setting.
Also have you noticed our new dining room table. Got it in last weekend just in time for Christmas. It is supposed to fit a lot more people than our white table.
and welcome to one of my rare Saturday posts, but the month of December is full with a ton of stuff and deadlines so I need every possible day to share something different with you.
I love reading and I am browsing amazon every few weeks to find new books for me. And since there are more of me out there I am sharing this gift guide for the bookworm today. There is a whole lot more to a book than you might imagine. Like getting comfortable with a hot beverage and cuddled up into a warm blanket with your reading glasses. I have rounded up a bunch of things you could gift.
we are in the countdown to Christmas or at last in the middle of preparations for the biggest holiday of the year. So with all the different customer services stores have to offer you can almost everywhere get your gifts wrapped and place them under the tree the minute you get home.
I don´t like to make use of this service cause first of all I love gift wrapping and second of all you can give every present a personal note so that the person who receives it knows exactly it is from you. It is so easy to personalize each gift.
These are the things you will need: gift wrapping paper, bows, little ornaments and branches, little cards or gift tags and eventually empty boxes. All of these things are available everywhere at this time of the year.
If you have soft gifts or gifts with a strange shape it is best to put them in a box first cause the present turns out more pretty if you have a rectangular box to work with.
The last of my presents are coming in tomorrow so I am going to be done gift wrapping by the end of the week. I like to wrap them up as early as possible cause it looks super decorative and festive under my tree.
Are you gifting a personal note with every gift or do you love the convenient wrapping stations at the department stores?
