The temperatures have finally increased and we managed to get out on the weekend and spend some time together as a family. My mood is instantly better when the weather is mild and sunny. I definitely have to get a place somewhere to spend the Winter months, preferrably in Italy. Can not take this awful Winter weather anymore.

What we ate

MondaySalmon I made in the air fryer (my favorite way to cook it) and steamed cabbage with parmesan cheese

TuesdayStuffed peppers with meat and cheese. I filled the red peppers with minced meat mixed with cheese and cooked them in the oven. Served with rice and everyone loved it.

WednesdayA full day for me so I only made the girls some butter noodles and had a girl dinner for myself.

ThursdayIf it hasn´t appeared until now you might guess it – chicken and rice from our favorite Asian restaurant. And of course Spring rolls!!!

FridayDinner has been a traditional Austrian Kaiserschmarrn and the girls ate chicken and fries – their favorite.

SaturdayI was out all day for a first aid course so I didn´t cook anything and my family just made different snacks for dinner. In Germany we call it Abendbrot.

SundayWe ate at an Italian restaurant in Berching and I had a pizza tonno which was very delicious by the way. Leftovers did not exist.

What I wore

The first real week of Spring and it definitely shows in my outfits.

What we did

It was a good week in terms of day trips. We managed to get out twice. On Friday and Sunday – this is very rare and I loved it.

It was a very cool week. My husband and I have been out for a lunch date in the middle of the week and we really enjoyed it. It was one hour and a half but we could talk without disturbance and enjoyed each others company. Doesn´t always have to be in the evenings to be special.

On Friday we got the girls early from Kindergarten and went on a little day trip. One of our favorite spots is the „Erlebnisholzkugel“ in Schwandorf. It is about 50 minutes away from our home and the girls have loved it ever since. Lots of climbing and balancing stuff and good food.

On Sunday we visited a new to us town called Berching. It was a charming little medieval city a lot like Rothenburg, but much smaller. We wandered around ready to explore and found so many pretty old houses and archways. On the outer side of the city wall we found a big and very cool playground for the girls and later on we went to an Italian restaurant and where also able to sit and eat outside. Live is so much better when you can make use of all the spaces.

Misc

The flowers finally start to bloom and hope rest of nature will follow. It is still so brown and naked out there.

We had a follow up pediatrician appointment this week and everything is fine but being at the doctors office with two little one is not for the faint of hearts. Also how amazing is this leopard pant/teddy vest outfit!!! I just love dressing up my little girl.

Weekly Review

It was Winter break this week and it was optional to let them go to Kindergarten or not. I decided to keep them home but regretted it by Monday morning 9 0´clock already. They woke up and started bickering the whole time. I was so nerve wrecking. I made a huge baked pancake and after that the bad mood went away but I have to admit I almost called their Kindergarten to ask if they could come in for the rest of the week.

What we ate

Monday Since the girls have been on Winter break I have made a big batch of oven baked pancakes Monday morning and we had leftovers also for lunch.

TuesdayI tried a „salad“ of chickpeas and salmon topped of with spices and cream cheese. I wanted to have a kind of meal for me cause when the girls are at home I am constantly snacking with them and not eating to loose weight.

WednesdayFish and potatoes. I have found air fryer potatoes and they are cooked through especially quick and get very crispy. Yeah to that. The girls love salmon so I always so a mix of salmon and baked fish.

ThursdayPotoatoe soup

FridayTortellini Casserole with ham, cheese and heavy cream sauce

Saturday – I made a fresh loaf of bread and and a spinach dip to eat at night. This combo is my absoulute definition of comfort food.

SundayWe had Pasta Bolgnese at my MIL´s and she also made a huge cheese cake. It was so flavorful and delicious.

What I wore

It was Denim Week on my Closet Challenge and girls I nailed it. I loved every look with the one piece of denim I added. Might have enjoyed this week the most so far.

What we did

Still in carnial mode this week. We had two more festivities (luckily on the same day) and then I was able to wash and pack the costumes away.

I usually have one day during the week were I can get all of my errands done, but a whole new load of snow and an accident on the road made it impossible so I had to reschedule and get back home cause traffic was unbearable. But nothing an ice coffed from Dunkins and a little Taylor Swift couldn´t fix.

What we ate

I made lots of quick and easy meals this week cause we have been out most afternoons and there isn´t much time left for cooking when we get home and everyone is hungry already.

MondayWe had chicken noodle soup

TuesdaySoup leftovers and pankcakes (the girls often wish for pancakes for lunch)

WednesdayPotatoe salad and sausages

ThursdayTake-out from our favorite. IYKYK

FridayI made a one pan meal with gnocchi and mushrooms and some sauce

SaturdayI didn´t want to cook much so I made scrambled eggs with tomatoes and feta cheese. Really easy but tastes so good.

SundaySunday brunch at my MIL (we got lots of leftovers and ate these at night)

What I wore

Another great week of outfits. I have coorporated some pink and blush for Valentine´s week. The closet theme has been the color Brown and I think I nailed it pretty good.

What we did

I got a box of delicious Valentine´s Day doughnuts from Dunkin´s. To say they didn´t last long would be an absolute exageration.

My mom and I went to a Line Dance Carnival Party on Saturday and it was super fun. We danced the night away.

My girls also had several carnival attendings and they have picked their costumes all by themselves this year. They went as fox and Miss Mouse. Still so cute seeing them this excited about getting dressed up.

Misc

The weather has been beyond awful this week. It was super rainy and windy and overal just indoor weather. I am so sick of staying inside and being imprisioned in my own home. I know this sounds a little too dramatic but the cold months steal so much of our life and quality time outside.

Weekly Review

This week has been the calm before the storm. Next week is going to hit hard with lots of carnival and Valentine´s Day prep. I am always trying to get as much as possible done for the next week but some things like food prep can not be done a week before. Also decorating (I decorated our play group room for the mama-and-baby classes) has to be done shortly before. My girls have one curated day of the week when they are at their grandma´s house so I try to get as much as possible done on these days.

What we ate

MondayOven potatoes with Feta Cheese

TuesdayGerman Wedding Soup with three kinds of dumplings – sausage, liver and semolina.

WednesdayWe had take-out from our favorite – the girls had chicken and fries and we had a Durüm (a wrap filled with meat, cole and sauce)

Thursday Leftovers from the day before and – of course – butter noodles for the girls

Friday Omelett with cheese, tomatoes, ham and rocket

SaturdayPasta with tomatoe sauce (cause unfortunately the girls do not like anything else at the moment)

SundayWe ate out in Adlersberg with our family.

What I wore

It was mystery week of my closet challenge and I picked one piece blindfolded every day. Really cool if you want to wear pieces you haven´t reached for in a while. I have managed to style everything I have picked to my satisfaction.

What we did

I was out having breakfast with a mom friend of mine. We have a guacamole, bacon and egg bread topped of with lots of pesto and rocket. Very delicious but also very difficult to eat. Especially with one hand while containing an active toddler with the other.

My MIL celebrated her birthday today and we went out for lunch to a very old Bavarian restaurant and after that had cake and coffee at her house with the extended family. The girls behaved very well and ordered all by themselves and the little baby slept through all the lunch.
