This week has been a total doozy. It has been endlessly long but also passed super fast. Anyone ever experienced a thing like that. We had a holiday on Tuesday and after that Kindergarten started again. We found back into our routine and almost everything is back to normal and Christmas seems million miles away.

Weekly Review # 2

 What we ate

Monday – I always like to make easy and quick dinners on Monday cause I am away at Line Dance so a oven dish in was including green beans, potatoes and sausages. Everyone likes this.

Tuesday – Today was a holiday and we all met up at my inlaws house for lunch. We had Spaghetti and meat sauce. One of my favorite dishes my MIL cooks.

Wednesday – We ate the leftovers from Tuesday as dinner today as well. I only made fresh pasta and we reheated the meat sauce. 

Thursday – I made a huge pot of milk rice (or you might call it baked rice) and we enjoyed it with cinnamon and apple sauce as toppings.

Friday – I love to combine minced meat and potatoes in a pot to a really heart and belly warming stew. Everyone loves it. It is called farmer´s stew and so delicious.

Saturday – We had a very late lunch at the swimming pool cafeteria. Boy do they have a great menu and the food is plenty and really good. I had a chicken Cesar salad and the girls ate chicken nuggets and fries and my husband had asia noodles. Everything very tasty.

Sunday – Usually we are always at my inlaws for lunch and coffee so we don´t eat much for dinner cause she always cooks delicious homemade, hearty dishes we eat a lot of. This week we had mashed potatoes and schnitzel.

What I wore

Second week of my closet challenge – the theme was Green and I have to say I really enjoyed it wearing different hues of Green all week. 

What we did

We headed to the local swimming pool on Saturday cause the girls have been asking for it all day every day on Christmas break but we have been sick one after another so there was no way to go there as a family. 

There was lots of fresh snow so my eldest daughter and my husband went out to go sleighing. They had so much fun together.

Other than that lots of playing inside. I have never regretted that I converted the office into the playroom.

Misc

A lot of things have been cancelled this week due to blizzards, snow and ice but to be honest it was just a normal Winter day with minimal snow and sunshine. I get that people should be cautious in Winter but not only on certain days, in my opinion on every day cause it can get dangerous pretty fast but if you are acting like a normal thinking person Winter weather is not the enemy. Just had to get this of my mind cause I find that peoples lifes are getting regulated from to many outside opinions. There is no thinking on their own anymore.

A belate Happy New Year and welcome back to my Weekly Review. I am going to try it again one last time, let´s see how far I come. To be honest I have kind of missed writing these post and was a little sad I couldn´t pull through last year but I made it further than the first year so maybe this is the year of determination. 

Like the last two years it has been the most beautiful sky on New Years Eve. The prettiest hues of pink and blue. This has to mean something am I right? I mean it has to be. I believe this is going to be a good sign.

I am both sad and happy that the new year is here. Sad because I love Christmas time and all the festive activities and now that it is over I already miss the decor and the magic that lies in the air but happy we are now in the new year and can start with a clean slate and I am looking forward to all of our travel and day trip and activity plans the year of 2026 brings for us.

Weekly Review # 1

What we ate

To be honest we did not cook much and I have had the hardest time on getting some meals together. With us being home 24/7 due to several sicknesses and the loss of appetite and taste it was just awful to cook for the girls. I mean I myself didn´t like anything I suggested so why should the girls eat it. 

Thursday – I have cooked our „traditional“ NYE dinner (pulled beef and spinach dip) so we had plenty of leftovers that day. I also get a delicious loaf of bread to eat with the meat and the dip. 

Friday – We had a gingerbread house decoration party in the afternoon so I made a chick and easy one pot pasta for dinner. Some tagliatelle, heavy cream, onions, different spices and bacon. Just let it sit and simmer for about 30 minutes in the same pot and dinner is ready.

Saturday – We haven´t been out in a very long time and since it is still freezing cold out we ventured into our nearest shopping center. Had fries and burger for lunch and Dunkin´s as a sweet treat. There have to be days like this, am I right?!

Sunday – The big girls and I have been out to watch the Nutcracker in the afternoon so my husband made a one pan dish with potatoes, sausage, onions and lots of cheese. The children devoured it. This is always such an easy option I completely forget about during the week.

What I wore

I have started my closet challenge on the first like I have for the last two or three years and I am really happy about my choice. I have done a closet reorganization the week before and I have found tons of clothes I haven´t worn in years and I want to style the next few weeks. It made me so excited to wear all of my „old“ stuff rather than get anything new. So far I haven´t bought a single piece so I´d say week one was a success.

What we did

We are still waiting on some snow to get out and enjoy the Winter weather a little but all we had have been icy stormy winds and nothing more. 

Emilia had 3 of her Kindergarten friends over on Friday and we decorated some gingerbread houses. I know it is a little late for that but at the planned date almost everyone including us was sick so we just started the new year with some Christmas crafts. Why not ?! They had fun and I didn´t have to toss the gingerbread houses in the trash. Would have been a pity. 

We found out that the shopping centre is in fact a great indoor playground if you don´t want to visit an actual overcrowded indoor playground. You can ride the elevators up and down, get lots of snacks and people watch. Not the worst way to spend a morning or afternoon. 

Misc

I am really at the point were I can´t wait for Christmas break to be over cause I have no more crafty ideas left in me and I also need my morning time back to clean and get the house back in order which is really hard with 5 people at home. They definitely miss their friends and I think getting some structure back into our days we can only profit from.

Another week has come and gone I haven´t been as confused as I was this week for a very long time. I almost forgot a pediatrician appointment and thought it was the last week of swimming lessons but boy was I wrong.

FASHION

One of my best weeks yet. Outift wise.

Sales are still going strong so if you want to get something nice for the remaining Summer or an upcoming vacation heavily discounted I would suggest to go and get it while there are still many sizes available.

ACTIVITIES

There is still one week of swimming lessons left and then we are done and our big girl can finally swim. I am very proud of her, she has done so well and loves to practice now at every chance she gets.

Not much to report here cause there are so many end-of-year things the next two weeks. 

MISC

Our middle girl got vaccinated this week and she was such a brave girl. Took it like a champ and only cried for a minute after. This was the best reason to go and get some delicious ice-cream with her. She took lemon and loved every bit of it.

My big girl also had an appearance on Saturday with her dancing group. They did so great. I am always amazed how they aren´t afraid in front of so many people.

Today we have been invited to our family friends house for homemade pizza. They have a pizza oven and make the most delicous pizzas I have ever tasted. Does not go well with my current training to loose weight (I am down 8 kg and have 10 kg to go) but sometimes you have to treat yourselves am I right ?!
