A classic red lip – sharing my favorite red lipsticks…

I hope your first day back at work wasn´t to bad. I am still at home but have to go back tomorrow. Not too thrilled about it either.

Since I am kind of a lipstick addict and especially of the color red I wanted to share my favorite brands and hues with you over on the blog today.I really love wearing a red lip whether it is for work or for going out.

There almost isn´t an ocassion you can´t wear red and it is super versatile and looks great with most colors. Also a red lipstick is an absolute classic just think about Marylin Monroe or Taylor Swift. 

So these are my current favorites I am using over and over again:

MAC MAC Red // I have first seen this color on Rachel from Pink Peonies and ordered it immediately. Although it has a satin and not a matte finish I adore this color. This is a bright red with a slightly blueish udertone. I personally think a blue undertone never hurts cause it makes your teeth look wither that they are.

MAC Lady Danger // This has been my first ever MAC lipstick and it started my obsession. It is corally red with an orange undertone and a matte non glossy finish. Works best in the summer since the color is really bright but I have also worn it with several pieces in the same hue a few weeks ago. 

Sephora Cream Lip Stain in color 95 Electric Ruby // I got this one at the Sephora in Leipzig and used it on the same night and for the following days. Absolutely love the color. It definitely is a darker red but not as dark as burgundy. The formula is perfect. I lasts and lasts and lasts. The Sephora brand itself is really good. Got a few more pieces and they didn´t disappoint as well. Be sure to try one of their cream lip stains. The color range is awesome too. And for 12 Euro they are super affordable.

L`Oreal x Balmain in color Domination // I was so happy about the collaboration between L´Oréal and Balmain. In fact I wanted to have every lipstick of their small but the bold blue and sheer olive hue where a little too much for me and also the nude ones wheren´t as interesting as the others so I went with four colors I liked the most. And what can I say – my most used lipstick is the bright red. It is super matte and super pigmented and also consists of the famous L´Oréal lipstick formula.  

L`Oréal Color Riche in color 349 Paris Cherry // This one had been sitting a very long time in my drawer (only bought it because I am a sucker for all the pretty lipstick names out there) until I recognized what a beautiful color it is. It is a darker matte red shade. The formula is so soft and doesn´t dry out your lips at all and it also has the typical smell of the brand´s lipsticks I love so much. My most used red for the colder months (as seen on my lips in the pictures above).

L´Oréal Paris Infaillable Matte color 204 Red Actually // The first color of the Infalaible lip color series I ever got was a bright purple. I think it the color was called orchid or similar. Do you remember the purple lips trends about 4 years ago? Did you get hooked as well. I mean we found out that MAC Rebel existed and that wasn´t bad at all. So the third color of these tubes I have ever got was the red shade. It is a darker and high pigmented red. I absolutely love the hue and it stays on pretty long but the applicator is real crap. It is super fuzzy so you can´t draw a nice line. I am always using a liner before and disperse the color with a lip brush. Also you never know how much of the product is left in the tube. Anyways the red is just too beautiful so I don´t mind about the other two points.

Happy International Lipstick Day….

since I am a lipstick hoarder lover and probably own 80 % of all excisting colors this is my day today. I really love wearing all my colors. Red (of course) for year round, orange in fall and summer, huge fan of neon pinks in the summer and dark purples for fall and winter. 

I have done several posts about lipsticks. So here are some of my favorites I am using all the time. New colors and formulas but also some oldies but goodies.

 I really love lipstick and if I had to choose two make-up products I couldn´t life without it would be mascara and lipstick.

and happy Tuesday. Tonight has the half of my work week passed and there are only two more days to go before the weekend yeah. I ordered some beauty products I have read about and I am dying to try them out as soon as they arrive and we are also planing a BBQ (set some recipes aside I want to try). Didn´t have enough time last week and the weather wasn´t the best despite the forecast. 

But now that Spring is coming back we are not only able to have a BBQ on the weekend I am also sharing my top Spring and Summer lipsticks for the warmer weather and all the bright dresses we are going to wear.

So let´s go by category. Might be a little easier to understand cause I go a little crazy with anything lipstick related. 


glossy and sheer color

This type usually reminds me of a beach vacation cause all you need is hydration and a hint of color on your lips. I have found some pretty good items to fullfill this task. First of all the L´Oréal Color Riche Shine. In comparsion to all the matte lipsticks this one is pretty light and shiny. There are several great colors for summer. From rose to red they all fit. A welcome change for the hotter months. It is hydrating and in my opinion is also lasts pretty long. Great catch for 11 Euro. The color I am showin is called “Trending”.
The second lip color I am sharing is an alltime and longtime favorite of mine. The Kiko Milano Creamy Lipgloss. This is more a lip crayon than a lipstick but I love it and it fullfils its purpose. They have a huge color range on this product but the only color I have ever bought is the bright red shade (color 105 Fire Red). It is my third one in two years. It is about 7 Euros and my absolute favorite product every year.

Of course we should also incorporate a trending color since the color of the year is ultra violet and it is definitely possible to wear this one as a lip color. 

I got these two lip colors from Avon. The lighter one is also a sheer but very lovely light orchid shade and the darker color is like mixture of a pink with a bright purple. So pretty. Since you can only order Avon through your sales contact I have listed some similar items below.


nude and matte
Since I am not in the mood for a popping color everyday – let´s say 5 out of 7 – I also got a myself covered with a nude shade in my beauty bag. The L´Oréal Lip Paint Matte is like a gloss but with a heavier and thicker consistency of the product. It is a matte shade and the color is pretty light but it covers really good. The product comes in a tube with an applicator. It costs about 8 Euro and in my opinion it is really worth it. The color is called 208 Off White.

This one is never out of style. The perfect red differs for every woman cause of the skin and teeth color but every and I mean EVERY woman should own a classic red lipstick.


I prefer wearing matte shades and one of my favorite is the MAC Russian Red shade. A darker and deep red shade. It is pretty similar to Domination from the cooperation of Balmain and L´Oréal. MAC lipsticks are usually pricier than the other brands I purchase but it there exists a color I am totally sold on I have to have it. And they last when you are rotating your colors a lot. About 25 Euro.

since we are at the beginning of the Christmas weeken I am not only outfit planing but also make-up planing. My go to beauty products for Christmas time include lots of glitter, shimmer and deep bold colors. A must have is a deep red lipstick like this one I recently got. The color is a beautiful rich red matte shade.

I also opt for a much more dramatic eyeshadow than during the other months. A brown, black or even olive smokey eye can look really cool with a sequin dress.  

I got two make-up looks for you today. A classic Christmas look with lots of red and a trendy look with metallic brown, dark green and sparkles.

Both looks are created with my favorite drug store products. Each one is under 15 € and should be available all the time.
