I am sharing a family recipe with you today. To be honest we don´t have many recipes in our family which have been passed on by generations, maybe a good handful, but the ones we do have are delicious.
So for today´s Food Friday blog post I am sharing my grandma´s nut cake recipe. It was the only cake she has ever made or could make and we got to enjoy it every weekend but it was awesome. So soft and juicy inside and a chocolatey delight on the outside.
Maybe the trick are the secret ingredients you can find inside the cake – whole hazelnuts and chunks of dark chocolate. Sounds good? You would be surprised how delicious it tastes.
So without no further ado I am sharing the recipe with you.
Grandma´s Nut Cake Ingredients
– 250 gr. of sugar
– 250 gr. of flour
– 125 gr. of butter
– 3 eggs
– 1 package of baking powder
– 250 gr. of hazelnuts
– 250 gr. chocolate chunks
– extra chocolate to melt over the cake
– melt the butter and mix it with the eggs and the sugar until fluffy
– add the dry ingredients until your batter is mixed nicely
– add the chocolate chunks
– pour the batter into a bundt cake tin (every other cake tin would work fine too)
– put it i the oven for 35 to 40 minutes by 180° C
– let the cake cool down and pour the melted chocolate over it
– if you like you can put some hazelnut chunks on the warm chocolate to decorate as well

See you tomorrow for round two of my #closetchallenge.
I am back with a super quick and easy vegetarian dish that works great for lunch as well as dinner. Usually I am not a huge friend of all vegetable dishes because preparing veggies is so much work.
To make it a little more interesting I added mexican spices. I mean a little chili never hurt right?
So for the ingredients you will need…
– red bell peppers
– zucchini
– onions
– german schufnudeln
– greek yoghurt
– parsley
– mexican spice
All I did is cut the ingredients into small pieces and fried it in the pan, added the mexican spices. As far as plating goes I just added a branch of parsley on the side and a spoonful of greek yoghurt on top. That´s all.
There are really no wrong amounts here so you can add as much of anything as you like.
I totally loved all the different flavors of the different
the weekend is ahead of us and since it is super hot these days why not embrace a sweet treat from the hot and humid south of the US – a peach cobbler.
I bought Martha Stewart´s cookbook months ago and love to just look at the different chapters and delicious recipes. My last experiment has been the peach cobbler and it turned out pretty good.
Definitely a tasty treat and different from what I have baked before. The filling is sweet, rich and so fruity in taste but the crust is krispy, inside soft from the juicy peaches and not to sweet at all.
The last time I have made it I added blueberries like the recipe said and it was delicous but as the colors mixed, pretty much everything turned green so the second day of eating it wasn´t as enjoyable as the first day anymore. Next time I am going with plain peaches.
Since we had been so overbooked last weekend I have not made any plans for tomorrow. We will stay at home at maybe go outside a little but that´s it. With all the #socialdistancing and staying at home due to Covid it has somehow become the new normal not planning that much or going anywhere.
I am so happy the whole weekend lies in front of us and it is going to be a good one. We have planned some stuff and it depends on were you are Independance Day is taking place.
Today is your lucky day if you are looking for a new recipe to try as I am sharing my favorite sweets and treats with you. I love baking, it is one of my most loved hobbies and also surprisingly calming. Throghout the years I have tried a ton of recipes I have made over and over again so make sure to read until the end.
Not only perfect for Valentine´s Day but for year round. I have always loved a piece of red velvet cake. It is something so special. Flavorful and velvety soft plus the fresh cream cheese frosting. Perfection on its own. One of my favorites to date.
#4 Lemon Bars
Awesome sweet treat to try if you love a zesty note in your cakes. I definitely would recommend trying this. I personally loved the taste although the look itself went horrible wrong as I have used an oven form that was way to small for the amount of dough and batter I have. I will bake them again very soon and hope they will look pretty enough to post and to serve. Southern Living has some of greatest recipes I have found on the internet, not only for baking but for cooking too.
This was a first for me but to be honest it was super easy to prepare and even more to bake. A classic southern desert and perfect for Summer with all the fruits. In fact you could use every fruit you like.
Have baked this one for so many ocassions whether for a birthday, Christmas or just for the weekend. It is definitely loaded and not for the faint of heart as the calories are skyrocketing per piece with all the chocolate, butter, heavy cream and confectioners sugar but definitely worth a try. Make sure to at least double the dough or it won´t be enough for two stories.
My go-to Summer cake. The Pina Colada Cake tastes fresh but a little zingy with the pineapple and superlight cause of the airy sponge cake. Everyone loved it so far cause it looks super delicous and artsy but is also super easy. Don´t be intimidated by the many steps, it is easier than you think and totally worth it.
These are my top 7 recipes I wanted to share with you as I love to have seasonal go-to´s on hand for different ocassion. It is nice to have deserts or cakes on hand you know you can pull of easily and taste great when you are in a quick need of them.
Do you have any favorites you love to bake over and over again or even recipes created by yourself ?
