From the moment I knew I was pregnant I was so so excited to order the stroller of my dreams. I have first seen the Bugaboo brand years before I even had in mind to get kids and loved it right away. The cool styles and vibrant colors were so different to other strollers than I have seen and I definitely wanted to have one when the time has come.

And my time came. I was so excited about it and had to contain myself not to order right away. Nevertheless I made to week 20 before I ordered our stroller. I went with the Bugaboo Donkey Duo and here is why.

The Bugaboo Donkey Duo Review

That I wanted a Bugaboo was crystal clear to me but what model would it be. After I saw the Bugaboo Donkey on Rachel Parcell´s blog I was sold. I have never seen a stroller with a bag on the side before and oh my is it practical. Not only for transporting all of the baby´s stuff but also for small grocery runs or even if you just want to put your handbag in there.

It folds up in under one minute which is super convenient when you are in a rush but the one upside it takes up a lot of trunk space so if you are having a small car it won´t fit in your trunk. I am still wondering how our first vacation will be with limited luggage space plus the frame itself is pretty heavy. It is manageable to put it into the trunk by myself but it needs some muscle strength.

We got the all gray version and I purchased the yellow cover for the side bag and a yellow sunroof. To be honest I wanted the off-white version but it is no longer continued and also the bright yellow is such a beautiful and happy color for both genders.

The wheels are huge which makes them run very smooth and silent. You can also buy silver rims for your stroller if you like it extra fancy.

One of the additional pieces that I definitely needed was the cup holder – I mean as a new mom I need my coffee and doesn´t it look great to have it with you why taking a stroll.

You can also get an adapter for your car seat so you don´t have to take the bassinet with you everywhere.

The Bugaboo Donkey Duo includes the bassinet as well as the seat for kids from 9 kg and up. You can also make it wider and have both of the seats side by side. So in conclusion, the stroller is expensive but if you are planning on having a two kids close in age this will really pay off.

Time really flies when you are having a baby and they grow so fast. How on earth is she already two months old (27th is her date). We already have size 62 which means I had to pack away all her newborn clothes and that made me so sad cause she is getting so big. But it is also good cause she has to grow to be a healthy baby.

Everyday we are spending with her holds little surprises and that makes having a baby at home the best.

2 Month Update

The most significant change we have noticed is that she loves to laugh. She laughs a lot in the mornings the moment she wakes up and also smiles back at people all the time.

She is much more interested in bright colors, contrast and patterns. I love to show here the Hey Bear YouTube videos with high contrast clouds or fruits.

Emilia still likes bath time and hope it stays this way. We have also washed her hair the first time last week and she couldn´t care less. This is a big relief cause I heard of many babies that hate water in their faces.

Her grip has gotten a lot tighter and she starts to grab things but doesn´t hold on a long time so we´ll see how long it takes until she starts to hold on to her toys.

Hairs are really starting to grow but we still can´t decide what hair color she is going to get. I would say it is a dark blonde but outside in the sunlight it looks redish. Guess we´ll have to wait cause only time will tell.

To say that she is a active baby would be and understatement because she moves all the time from the moment she is awake until the time she goes to sleep. Her arms and legs are always in movement.

Tummy time is getting better everyday and her neck muscles are getting stronger by the day. She is super interested in holding her head by herself and tries all the time.

Another great accomplishment is that she only wakes up once at night which means I get a full 6 or 7 hours off sleep at once. That made such a different for myself that I don´t need to have my afternoon nap.

You see a lot has happened in the last 4 weeks and I am sure a lot more is going to come the next month. We have a doctor´s appointment on Wednesday and she is going to get her shots. I am terrified of how she will react and how bad the reaction will be.

Read all about her one month update here.

….

Hello and happy Monday to my lovely readers,

I am finally sharing my birth story on my blog today. I was not sure if I wanted to since it is such a private thing but to be honest nothing bad happens and I also love reading other women´s birth stories so here we go plus I also don´t want to forget about it.

The first signs of labor appeared on the evening at the 26th of March. At about 08:30 pm I started to notice cramping. I wasn´t sure if it they were Braxton Hicks contractions as I had those earlier already so I went upstairs and took a shower cause everything else but real contractions fade with the heat of the water.

After getting out of the shower I was pretty positive that this was actual labor but I still wanted to wait some time before I told my husband cause I wanted to be sure. So I shaved my legs and got my hair done to be hospital ready and also got some comfortable clothes I could wear to the hospital. It was about 11 pm as my husband went upstairs so I told him cause at this point I was pretty sure as the pain was rising with the hour.

My midwife suggested to stay at home as long as possible which meant as long as the pain was somehow toleratable cause it is easier to distract yourself. So I made myself some yoghurt and watched a few episodes of the Big Bang Theory, I also finished packing my hospital bag. Meanwhile my husband went to sleep to get in some hours before we would go to the hospital.

I got a contraction tracker on my phone and after tracking them for some hours I woke up my husband at around 2 in the night cause I wasn´t feeling comfortable anymore and wanted to get to the hospital to have someone look at my baby cause I was afraid she was going to be in distress.

We checked in to labor and delivery at about 2:30 am and I got hooked up on the monitors, they made and ultrasound and layed me an IV. I was dilated about 2 cm at this time so I was preparing myself for a long labor.

At some point (about 5 am) I was in so much pain I wanted to have some pain medication but I was already dilated to 9 cm so it would not even help until the baby was born. So I had to have an unmedicated birth.

To be honest the pain was managable but the pressure pulling down was on a whole other level. To be honest it was hell and the contractions came so close I didn´t even have much time to recover. I am still wondering how I did not break my husbands hand. For my next child I am definitely getting an epidural rather sooner than later.

My water broke around 7 am and after an hour of pushing our baby girl was born at 8:19 am on the 27th of March after a total of about 12 hours of labor. She made on short cry and fell aspleep right after. My husband cut the umbilical cord and the midwife laid her right onto my chest for skin on skin were she first things first peed.

I had a second degree tear so I had to be sewn up while she was taken away to be cleaned and meassured.

The moment she came into our life was one of the most incredible moments of my life but somehow unbelievable. I mean I knew that there was a baby growing inside of me but to actually see her after all the months I have waited was so surreal there are still some times I look at her now I can not believe she was actually growing inside of me.

Experiencing labor was hard. It was a pain on another level I have not expected but it was so very worth it. And another amazing thing I noticed was that the pain immediately stopped after she was here. That is so fascinating.

Now we are enjoying every little moment with our sweet baby girl.

One Month with Baby Emilia…

1 month update, baby update, baby progress, 1 month, baby girl

1 month update, baby update, baby progress, 1 month, baby girl

1 month update, baby update, baby progress, 1 month, baby girl

….

It marked one month yesterday since we had our sweet little baby girl and I still can´t believe it. Time has flown by. My husband is back to work after his one month maternity leave which means he is just working from another room these days but still.

3 days

4 weeks

I remember the moment they layed her onto my chest like it was yesterday. The sweetest tiny baby I have ever seen. Today had been our one month check up at the pediatrician. She gained about 1,5 kg since her birth which is great cause I always had the thought she doesn´t get enough breastmilk.

One Month Progress

She definitely became more alert. She is following lights with her eyes and looks at bright and patterned things. She starts to smirk and smile and I can´t wait for her first baby laugh. Another thing I love are baby sneezes – aren´t those the cutest.

She has grown 6 cm already which means some of her clothes aren´t fitting anymore and that makes me so sad. I don´t want her to grow up this fast but I am also happy she is developing as one healthy and happy baby.

Eating most of the day and taking long naps are some of the things which are our day to day business She is a pretty good sleeper so I only have to feed her twice a night and then she usually stays asleep until eight or half past nine. We recently started tummy time and she is doing pretty well.

Kicking is one ability she recently added to her skills so I ordered an activity playmat for her. Also her grasp is getting tighter by the day and she might start holding things soon.

Her hair is getting more and darker every day but I am still not quite sure what her definite hair color will be.

We still can´t decide if which one of us she resembles more but this will hopefully change in the coming weeks.

I am going to share  a post about all the things we use on a daily basis and can´t get through without in about four weeks. This gives me enough time to try and test each product.
