What I put in our Nurse´s baskets…

….

FYI: I prepared this blog post before our baby girl arrived so there would still be fresh content on the blog while I am taking a break from blogging. That’s why you’ll still see me pregnant or referencing my pregnancy in some upcoming blog posts!

Putting the nurses basket together was really fun. I love making gift baskets and also enjoyed it this time (I have actually also made a huge basket to take with me when I went to hospital with Emilia but I have never gotten around to share it and after a few months I didn´t even find the photos anymore but I loved how the nurses loved the surprise and little things I got for them). The day I finished the basket actually was the day I went into labour. Maybe it was because this was the last thing to finish and after that I was mentally ready for her to be here.

So this time it definitely didn´t do anyhting for me other than feeling very accomplished. I made two baskets this time around cause the labour and delivery ward is another than the postpartum station and there are wonderful people in both areas that care for you and the baby.

I got lots of little but “practical” things for the baskets. And before you get to me this is not meant to be that everybody gets a piece of everything. It is the idea of taking some little things that you might want/need at that moment like a sweet treat, some gum, a hair tie or even just a pen.

What I put into the nurses baskets

 – lip blam

 – hand cream

 – gum

 – giotto

 – notepad

 – pencils

 – hair accessories

 – trail mix

These are just some things you could get but there are a thousands more like little coffee cans, gift cards, hand sanitizers and many many more. I think you get where I am going to.

Do you like the idea of giving the hospital staff a little something for their efforts? I know that it is their work but it isn´t it nice to be valued as well??!!

Staying active during my pregnancy has been on top of the list the second time around cause I had a hard first birth and heard and read that excercise and staying active can help tremendous with labor and delivery so I wanted to give it a try. I definitely didn´t reach my goal but I can say that I was way more active this time – maybe also because I have a very busy toddler home with me all day. Plus I had a very short labor and smooth delivery.

So for Christmas I wished for a fitness tracker and I got the FitBit Versa in rosegold. It is so much more than that but first things first.

I mainly use it as a step counter and a watch but there are many other features you can use. It can be synced with your Spotify account and you can also pay with it. You can track your heart rate, your work outs, your food and for example blood sugar and calories. It can totally be personalized to your needs and wants. There are also thousands of different screen savers available. Also if you want even more features you can subscribe to the premium version.

The premium version holds even more features like personal evaluations, sleep analysis and also about a 150 different work-outs for you to try. It is nine euros a months but you can use the 90 days free trial period to get used to it and decide if you want to keep it.

As far as the fashion choice goes, , if you don´t like the rubber band – it get´s pretty sweaty under there – you can easily get others to switch it out. Amazon and also etsy offer thousands of different pieces. I got a pack of 4 with elastics and also one made of leather.

Emilia´s Arts and Craft Corner…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate LInks-not sponsored)

Building this art corner has been one of the best ideas I had this year. We gifted Emilia the art easel and all the supply for her second birthday cause she loves to draw and it was a huge hit. We might have a little artist on our hands 🙂 but all jokes aside I think it is perfect for her age. She likes to draw all by herself or with one of us. It definitely keeps her occupied and happy.

I got most of the stuff from amazon as well as a local store but you can get many of the things like stickers and glitter glue or stamps at your local dollar store, I am sure about that.

The art cart itself is from Ikea and stuffed with great items to draw, color and do handikraft. I got lots of boxes and cups to keep it as neat as possible and so far it has worked great. The paper divider is from amazon and perfect to store the sticker sheets, construction and glitter paper as well as the little sheets of foam rubber. I am sure we are going to do lots of crafts with all these things.

As far as I can see there are hundreds of cute things you could add to your cart. You just need to decide which theme you want to follow and also what you or your little one enjoys.

Why Meal Prepping not only saves Time but Money…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links-not sponsored)

We all have been there. You are going to the grocery store super hungry and buy each and every piece you could eat right away in your car, pay a lot at check-out and still have nothing proper to cook a meal at home.

This is the reason I started meal planning for the whole week ahead cause I have always got groceries after work and it was the same every damn time. I love to use Pinterest, Instagram or my cookbooks as inspo. We don´t cook new meals every week but change up some things from time to time.

So why should meal planning save you time and money

– you will only buy what you have on your list

– you know exactly what you have home and what you are you going to cook so there will be less ordering out

– you save time cause you are not wandering around the store and search for meal ideas

– you also save time by only hitting the grocery store once a week

– recipes are mostly free if you are using Pinterest and Instagram as your source

– you can cook the most versatile menus every week

I first cook all the fresh produce and for example meats and then process all the other products later in the week. I have found an amazing meal planner on amazon which makes the whole procedure very clear. On the left side is a column to write down your planned meals and on the right side is place to make a list off all the ingredients your will need. It can be separated as well so your weekly meal plan can stay on the fridge as it is magnetic.

Try it out and tell me what you think. In my opinion there is always room to improve.
