This post means two things – the most wonderful time of the year is over and I can organize the crap out of our Christmas decor and start the new year fresh.

I am very sad that Christmas time is over cause I have loved it so much this year. The girl´s had so much fun and where so in awe of every light and little detail. It was the cutest thing.

But like every season Christmas also comes to an end and we have to pack away all things magical. But how to do so. I am gonna say it as it is – organize it now and save time later. I myself have thrown everything into boxes years ago and just put it away and when the holly jolly time is back and you want to decorate and only find half of it somewhere joy is gone very quick.

So let´s organize….

Christmas Decor Organization and Storage Options

Wrapping Paper Storage

I have shared all about it in this short Instagram Reel. It makes a hell of a difference to have everything you´ll need for gift wrapping in one place than in three different. You can see what you have, what matches and what you could restock for the next holiday.

This is new to me and I have seen this last year and wanted to get one once this Christmas decor period is over and I am so glad I did. It fits my 3 garlands perfectly and I can see what´s inside and it is also protected from dust.

Ornament Storage

I have gotten two of these divided xxl bins for my ornaments and I am very happy about it. They are pretty sturdy on the outside and hold a lot of our Christmas ornaments. You can also recognize colors from the outside so it is even easier to find what you need.

Christmas Tree Storage

I have used this huge bag for two years now and it is still my favorite way to store our tree. Of course this only applies to you if you have a fake Christmas tree. My mom is storing hers whole. She just has a cover to throw over and zip up. Only possible if you have the space and height to store it like this but also a great solution.

Pillow / Fabric Storage

I have folded my pillow covers, stockings, table runner and put then into this bin. On the other side are the Christmas pillows. Works great. This way I can immediately see what I got when I open it up again the next year. A little tip if you have lots of silky or shiny organza fabric – I put them in a empty pillow cover so they don´t get mixed up or a tear from another zipper for example.

One last tip at the end of this post. If you are storing your Christmas decor in your attic where temperatures change a lot between Summer and Winter make sure to remove your batteries from everything possible. First of all they will decharge and not work when you need your item again and second of all they are more easily to leak with the wild temperatures and damage everything around because of the agressive battery acid.

And another thing. Don´t store wax figures in your attic if it will get hot in the Summer. A few of mine have melted into unrecognizable lumps.

Girl´s Room Organization (Clothes and more)…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links-not sponsored)

I love an organized space. There is just something so comforting about a tidied up and organized area in our home. I could stare at it for hours. Yes I am definitely weird in that way.

I have already shared the girl´s decor so for today´s post I wanted to share how I organized their clothes and also other stuff like medicine, diapers and so on.

Let´s start with the closet. It is the Pax from Ikea and I have just customized it for our purposes. I got two clothes rails, one for Emilia and one for Helena to hang all of their dresses, shirt and overalls.

The shelves are for baskets where I put the girl´s clothes in like socks, bows, onesies and pants. They are still small and all of their stuff is folded and fits in the baskets. The black labels are from amazon and easy to assemble. To add a little more aesthetics I added the golden lettering.

About the baskets. I have searched up and down to get 4 in a row but I just could not find any that matched my needs so I went with 3 big and 1 small.

The big chest on top of the closet is for Emilia´s Summer clothes which still fit. It is a great storage option as well as a cute decor piece.

The cute boxes under the diaper changing table are from Ikea as well and they hold bathing suits and swimm diapers.

In the drawers are diapers, wipes and changing pads.

Diaper Bag Organization for a Toddler…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate LInks-not sponsored)

Having a toddler of two years now doesn´t mean I am carrying less with me than having a newborn baby. Although the things are really different a toddler definitely requires a lot of stuff too.

Especially when you have an active one like we do. I always have a change of clothes for Emilia with us as well as a towel, some burp clothes, lots of wipes and snacks. Having all things diaper change with us hasn´t changed, only the size of the diapers.

To be honest I have tried a fair share of diaper bags and non-diaper bags I wanted to make work but haven´t been very satisfied with either solution. Most of the diaper bags are just too small and I can not fit all the things in there and that totally annoys me. Then I got an insert for the Neverfull (I have the large one) but this wasn´t the perfect solution as well and I didn´t like it as much as I wished cause I wanted a bag that closes with a zipper.

Then I have found out about the MC Wallace but I was hesitant at first cause it is pricey but the pros definitely outweigh the cons. It is durable, lightweight, easy to clean, big enough to fit all of our stuff and available in lots of colors.

My model is the MC Wallace Large MetroTote in color Magnet. I do not have the Deluxe Edition cause I don´t need the shoulder straps as the handles are wide enough to wear over the shoulder.

I got the dark grey color cause it matches our stroller really good but I was eyeing with the shiny golden color as well. The Metro Tote closes with a zipper and stays closed on its own which I appreciate very much. It fits lots of Emilia´s stuff and will also come in very handy when we have to carry baby no. 2´s things as well.

So far I have never looked bag and didn´t regret getting it at all. It really is a great bag and would also make an amazing bag for a weekend away or for travelling on a plane. It still looks brand new although we use it every day.

How I organize our diaper bag

As far as organizing goes I love to use those document folders that close with a zipper. I got different sizes for to store and organize all the different things in the bag. I hate searching  a bag up and down for things. This is really irritating for me and makes me super angry.

To make it even easier to find stuff (even for the husband) I got a bunch of cute little sticker tags from an etsy shop and I definitely love how it turned out. I got one for snacks, books, pens and cards, extra clothes, wipes and small medical things.

How to organize several parts of your home…

….

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links-not sponsored)

With the new year always comes the urge to start fresh around here (or at least to get organized, put away the Christmas decor and have a clean house). I have done lots and lots of organizing throughout the two years of the pandemic and some areas still need improvement but I am getting there. It gives me such a peace of mind and makes me love our house even more when everything is neat and has a place to go.

With all the things Emilia has and has gotten for Christmas it is even harder to keep it tidy around here and I manage as best as I can but that will be another post for you guys where I specifically share want I did and why.

Now let´s have a look at the last areas I gave a proper cleaning. I am going to link as many boxes and little helper I used.

Kitchen – Spice Drawer

This was such a huge mess. I didn´t know half the things I had and always bought more cause I couldn´t find anything up to the point when I got almost crazy finding some of my spices and dediced to clean out the whole drawer.

I got these little glass containers in a set from amazon and they are super handy. They fit great into the drawer, they come with stickers to properly label your glass containers and a funnel to avoid messes. Love that the lids are labeled.

Hallway – Shoe Closets

I definitely am a little ashamed to share the before picture of my main shoe closet but yeah that is the real truth. I haven´t sorted this one for about two years and it definitely showed. I purged lots of shoes I don´t want to wear anymore as well as shoes that don´t fit anymore after my first pregnancy although I would say my feet are back to normal at about 95%.

I sorted them by category. Flats and mules on the top and heels from the middle to the bottom. Sneakers in the middle. The super cool shoe riser are from Ikea and pretty awesome cause sneakers take up a lot of space and this way you save lots of space.

Bedroom – Make-Up Vanity

If you follow me for a time now you might now that I love Ikea a lot and could make proper advertising for them by sharing parts of my home so of course I do have Ikea furniture in my bedroom as well. My vanity and the Alex container are both very handy in terms of storing make-up and little beauty gadgets. I have gotten baskets over the time to properly store all of my belongings and of course my labelmaker could not be missed.
