Lago di Garda Travel Diary….

Hi guys

today I am doing a recap off our Italy vacation.

We stayed at the Sportsman Hotel in Bardolino for the whole trip. It is a really nice Hotel with a mixed audience. They have a private beach just 20 seconds to walk. Really really close and pretty. You can have dinner at their restaurant or you sit outside in the nice patio for a Bellini. The breakfast variety couldn´t be any better.
Rooms are big and clean – not really fashionable but timeless in their furnishing.
They also have a pool for the case you don´t want to swim in beautiful Lake Garda or you can rent a bike and make a tour to one of the old cities which are all nearby.

Day 1:
We arrived at Lunchtime and after walking arround in the hotel we went outside the next restaurant we could find to grab something to eat and get a drink in the sun. We found a great place which I called the “Barrel Bar” – in Bardolino – because all the tables were barrels. We stayed there quite a while. After getting ready for the evening we went to Garda.

Garda

The Barrel Bar

Day 2:
We got up early because we drove to Verona. It is about 45 minutes away and they have a beautiful old town with a collosseo and lots of shops. LOTS OF SHOPS 🙂
I found a Kiko and a Carpisa – two of the most colorfullest and sweetest shops I have ever seen and of course I bought some stuff.

At night we went to Peschiera del Garda for a good night drink and a fantastic view at the harbour.

Day 3:
Got up early too beause we had to get to the market in Bardolino as quick as possible to get a parking spot. They got lots of different pieces of clothing for fall so that was definitely a hit. Got some snacks for lunch and of course the typical  and the best view onto the shimmering Lake Garda.

In the afternoon we lay at the hotel beach area and just read a book and relaxed. It was super hot this day (almost 40 degreees).

In the evening we went to beautiful Lazise to get some dinner and to walk arround the city. The waterfront there is adorable and the entrance into is just adorable.

Day 4:
On our last day we went to Sirmione another old and pretty city with an old castle we took a better look at. After grabbing some ice-cream and sitting arround with some coffee and watching the other people we headed back to the Hotel beach for some refreshment.

In the evenig we went to an awesome restaurant in Bardolino. It is called Spiller and it has Austrian kitchen. The food was sooo delicious and after all the Pizza and Pasta a welcome change. A ate an awesome burger (not really Austrian food but a great decision) which was probably the best I ever had.

After eating we went for Mini-Golf and I won – didn´t even think about that. It has been a great but also very sad last evening.
We are going to miss Lake Garda a lot but definitely coming back.
Day 5:
After getting some pancakes for breakfast we packed and headed back home to little Chloe. She was so happy to see us again.

It was the best trip I had in a long time (maybe of the great company ^^) – I honestly got no downsides – wich is pretty awesome. The only thing might be that it was too short but time always runs fast when you are enjoying things.

Wishing everybody a great Friday and a nice weekend.

Take care. See you. Love K.

Weekend getaway……..

Hi guys and happy Monday,

isn´t it always nice to get out of our daily routine even if it is just for a weekend ??

My boyfriend and I do have lots of places which are nearby and we both would like to see.

So this is what we choose for this time: Salzburg in Austria

I have been there twice already. It is a really pretty and old city. It has the house of Mozart the famous musician and poet who wrote plays like Cosi van tutti and a lot more…

The also do have an old fortress on the top of the city. You can go there by foot or you can take the cable railway. You have a nice view from out the cabins but it is also pretty high.

The also have a zoo and another big castle outside the city but we didn´t have this much time to get a closer look at everything and it also shouldn´t get that stressful.

Hotel:
It is a really nice and very modern hotel. It isn´t directly located in the city centre – but you can go by bus – takes only 15 minutes – really quick and comfortable into the city, so you won´t get stuck in traffic and you won´t have a parking spot problem.
The rooms have a wooden flooring and a balcony, a really comfortable Sessel, a double bed and a TV. You could also get two single beds in one room.
They got an english breakfast buffet in the morning with scrambled eggs and bacon and beans, tea and coffee. And also croissants and rolls and cheese, jam, sausage and cereals. More than enough.

Food:
For Lunch we went to the Zipfer Bierhaus – they have their own beer brand and also delicious and hearty food. I can recommend the Grill Plate with vegetables and french fries and also the Tiroler Gröstl (made of bacon, potatoes and egg).

After exploring the city and looking at lots of menus we decided to have dinner at the Sternbräu.
This is such a cool restaurant. It has 4 entries, one on each side and there is a different location at every side. They have a lounge, a restaurant, a coffee shop and a “Beergarden” where you can sit outside for dinner. Pretty awesome !!
I went for the spinach dumplings – they were so great that I cooked them for us last week and they almost tasted as good as the original ones – with a sauce of melted butter and parmesan cheese. Yummy 🙂
My boyfriend ate the roasted pork with a sauce made of dark beer and also dumplings (but without the filling). The meat was so tender – just delicious.
We couldn´t eat a desert so I can´t give you any advice about that cause the main dish was so much.

Shopping:
There is one street in the city centre where are all the shops located. It is called the Getreidegasse.
They got all the stores we already know like Mango, Zara and H&M. But there is also a Louis Vuitton and a Massimo Dutti. I went to Claire´s because I like looking arround for jewelry and decoration stuff and cute little things. You also need to go to the Fürst shop. They sell the original Mozart Kugeln – filled with marzipan and pistachio.
It had been a nice change to get away – even if it was just for 2 days – just to be together and have a great time exploring another city and enjoying great food.
Stay tuned for our next getaway 🙂
Take care. See you. Love K.

Showing further parts of my house….

Hi guys

today I am revealing another room of our house –

– the LIVING ROOM-
It took a little to get this one ready. It has been the most used room so we had to do a lot before I could take some pictures and show it to you (and I almost waited 3 months for the sofa to arrive).
There was a crack in the sealing which had to be fixed first and after that we painted everything white and also had to get the rest of the bottom bars and mount them but here we are now…..
The center of the room is – of course – the sofa. It has to be cause it is the biggest item in there. The color is just gorgeous – it fits with grey and also with brown.

Around the couch is the dining table – a high shine white one for four people (you could also fit 6 people). I do have white chairs around the table wich I like a lot because it is so versatile this way. You can almost use every color for decorating the table you like.

There are several shelves for photos and decoration items and a glass cabinet for all my wine and champagne glasses and decanters.

I also purchased this firceplace – isn´t it super cute. I put some of our best pictures upon it. The wooden wall behind it is an adhesive wallpaper on a thin acrylic glass plate.

The bricks on the wall are actual real stones – we left them cause they are pretty cool and they match with the shabby chic theme which gets us to the next pieces of furniture.

The coffee table has this shabby chic design which I like a lot – also the clock above the fireplace. The pattern is so lovely.

That´s all for my living room so far. I hope you enjoyed this little sneek peek in my house.

Planning on doing another room – stay tuned.
Totally into packing and planing for my summer vacation at this point.

What are your summer plans ?

Take care. See you. Love K.

Coffee Table Decoration Ideas…..

Hi guys

I always loved – and still do love hosting all kinds of events like a brunch, a dinner or just an afternoon coffee meeting. Last thing we had yesterday. I had my whole family over for coffee and of course for some delicious cake to show them the new house we are living now ( – for gods sake it is already done). I had been thinking a lot upfront about the table decoration and I decided to go with an outisde theme as we were sitting on the patio. As I had this nice coffee table cup and plate set I decided to got with the colors green and purple – an awesome combination I did never recognice -but these colors rock toghether.

So here we go – this is everything I used ( got the flowers and the lavender from the fields behind the house and our garden)
So first of all for the drinks – besides the regular coffee I had some refreshing sparkling water  with slices of lemon for this little lemon scent in the water and as an apperitiv for the guests after arriving an Jules Mumm with Acai flavor – a brasilian berry.

I made two cakes ( we were eight people – so I was afraid it wouldn´t be enoug to eat) – the small one was a sand cake and the other one has been a Pina Colada cake with pineapples and some rum. Yummy 🙂

I cut some fresh lavender from our garden to make the little bouquets for the plates.

I hope you all had a nice weekend and sorry for posting so late today. Oops.
Take care. See you. Love K.
