What to wear to a Summer Wedding….

Last weekend we have attended a lovely Summer wedding in our city and while many people have dressed very nice there have been several faux-pas I could not get over. I know I am no stylist but I have dived in deep into the theme on what to wear to a wedding cause I for myself want to look my best at such ocassions cause it is also always very nice for the pair that gets married to have nicely dressed guests in the picutres.

What to wear to a Summer Wedding – Man

Trends come and go but you can never go wrong with a nice colored great fitting suit. If you do not know what to wear go with a dark colored suit. Navy, black and brown have worked great over decades and lately a nice hunter or sage green hue made top of the list.

If it is really really hot you might wanna switch to a linen suit but I would be careful cause a linen suit looks very casual very fast. Also don´t mix and match. A wedding is no place to dress down or try to experiment.

A long sleeved button down is a must-have. Short sleeves look a little frumpy and are bulky under the jacket. I would not wear a vest cause often times the groom and groomsmen are wearing vests and you don´t want to look to similar to them (if it is required it is fine tough). As far as accessories go a tie or a bow tie plus a pocket square are your go-tos. If you want you can add a pair of funny socks that show from time to time but that must be it in terms of special. What I have seen make a huge comeback are suspenders. They add a nice touch of old Hollywood glam to your wedding outfit but please only a bowtie and not a tie.

Shoes and (if you need one) your belt should match colorwise.

What to wear to a Summer Wedding – Woman

Now when it comes to woman fashion there is a lot more to the dresscode than you might think. First of all a Summer wedding will be mostly a on a hot day but do not get too naked. A mini dress won´t make you feel cooler but it is super inappropriate. You won´t feel good cause you just can´t move as you´d wish to.

Another thing that might not be permissioned is a Summer dress that has way too much white in it. Please don´t wear it and don´t ask the bride if it is okay if you do. I mean what is she suppossed to say when you have already set your mind on a dress !!!

Also please don´t get too fancy. This is not the place nor the time to try out new fashion trends. You can never go wrong with a classic that hat has a little twist. A side slit can be very elegant as long as you are still able to wear underpants. An open back dress is very sexy and a great piece if you do not want to show any cleavage as long as people do not see you butt crack. The same goes for a dress that has a huge neckline. It is fine as long as your boobs don´t fall out while bending over a little and they do not look imprisoned or strangulated. A sweetheart neckline does the trick here.

Too casual is not an option either. I have seen so many people wear simple and short cotton dresses. This is not a casual ocassion. You can wear all of those the following week. Please don´t go too simple. A elegant blazer jacket can do a lot for your outfit but it can´t save every look. Another thing that is a no-go are sneakers at a wedding. No just no. If you can´t walk in high heels or don´t feel comfortable wearing a pair of those for many hours get yourself a pair of elegant flats or wedges. Slingback pumps with a short heel are also a proper choice of shoes.

Belt bags or backpacks are no great choice of bags for a elegant festivity. There is no such thing needed like a practical bag for a wedding.

If you don´t want to wear a floorlength dress like I did a cocktail length, a midi dress or a high-low option is mostly fine as long as the invitation isn´t strictly forbidding it.

Make your you wearing a proper bra with your dress. The bra itself or straps should never show at such an ocassion, in fact it should never show anywhere else as well. There are several options out there and it really exists a bra solution for every dress.

Always watch out for a dress code in your invitation. There will be one most of the time. I for example wanted cocktail attire and forbade any kind of Bavarian folk costume.

What to wear to a Summer Wedding – Kids

0

The dress code for kids at weddings is a lot more relaxed than for adults but there still is one. For example it is okay for little boys to wear a short suit which means a pair of linen shorst and a white shirt with suspenders or a vest. There doesn´t have to be worn a whole suit but the option of course is there.

I often see little kids wear the same things as they would to Kindergarten or playgroup and that is a little to leisure in my opinion. You don´t have to go all in for your kids but I think they should be allowed to feel pretty / handsome and fit in. Kids need to learn that there are certain ocassions where it´s only appropriate to show up in a certain way like church and other invitations to festivities as well. The couples invest a lot of time and money to arrange a beautiful day not only for themselves but also for their guests so they definitely should be returning the favor by putting some effort in their look.

Little girls outfits are much easier cause most of them already own lace or tulle dresses which are totally fine. You don´t have to spend a fortune at all. There are plenty of dresses for under 20 Euro available for example at H&M or SheIn. I just would make sure that there isn´t some kind of comic print all over. Not very elegant if you have a bright Paw Patrol picutre all over.

As far as shoes go sandals are totally fine. I bought the girls similar pairs of white sandals and they looked very cute on. For boys work the same things. A pair of brown or black sandals (no velcro, no print) or any other color that matches the outfit.

I know this is a lot to pay attention to but most of it is common sense. If you have any questions let me know. I am no stylist but I have been to a lot of weddings and seen it all.

How cute are those pictures with my little girl? She is such a happy camper all the time and it seems like she loves the camera.

I am sharing all the things I have in my diaper bag today but first of all I wanted to share which one I use. I do have several large shopper bags like the LV Neverfull or the Tory Burch Gemini Link but I also got a classic diaper bag. I used the diaper bag for our walks as I only needed to have the baby´s things with me but now after lockdown I find it much more convenient to carry a shopper handbag around with me.

The diaper bag I got is from SkipHop. I love all of their things. I got the changing pad as well as the wet clothes pouch and use it all the time. My most used handbag I use as a diaper bag is my LV Neverfull or my Coach Market Tote. Both have the perfect shape to add one of these great felt organizer you can get of amazon. A organizer can transfer any bag into a well sorted place to keep your things.

What is in my diaper bag?

– diapers (of course)

– wipes

– lotion

– extra pacifier

– extra set of clothing

– wet bag

– summer hat

– socks

– burp clothes

– toys

– hot water / tupperware to pour in

– bottle with breast milk

– teething toy

– blanket

– changing pad

– sun lotion

– portable white noise mashine

This looks like a long list and it is quite the amount of things but everything you will need with a baby. I always check twice before leaving the house and so far I haven´t forgotten a thing we needed but it has definitely changed us. No getting out the door last minute or spontaneous here anymor but I wouldn´t want it any other way.

Hi you guys,

(post contains affiliate links/Werbung/Markennennung/Beitrag enthält Affiliate Links-not spnsored)

it is now exactly 4 and a half months after Emilia´s birth and I started to get back to working out and loosing that baby weight. To be honest first of all I thought it would bother me more that I had most of my weight still on but it absolutely didn´t and I was also busy with a newborn so also no time to bother. The other thing was breastfeeding. With full time breastfeeding I heard that all your extra baby pounds will come off quickly but they didn´t move at all so I decided to start working out again. Although I had to wait a little longer because of my postpartum recovery.

Postpartum Recovery

This might be TMI for some so feel free to skip if you dont´want to know.

I had a second degree tear after giving birth and also got hemorrhoids from pushing plus a bruised coccyx brom my intense back labor. This wasn´t the best combo given a quick recovery but it went better from there than I thought. I probably really helped going on walks a lot.

My tear wasn´t as disruptive as I thought and besides me not able to sit up for a long period or get up quickly from a seated position it was okay. I stopped bleeding after about 10 days which is normal but not very common as the midwife pointed out so this definitely was a win. Also my uterus shrunk down pretty fast to its normal size. To be honest postpartum recovery hasn´t been pretty at all but it did not bother me that much. It took its time and now everything is and feels normal again.

I was cleared for working out at my six weeks appointment but had to wait much longer because of my coccyx. I could not sit comfortable for longer periods so there was no way I could sit on the hard seat of the stationary bike (and yes I could have gone outside to run but I hate working out and running is the worst of it). I waited until 3 month after delivery and then begann to #getbackinshape.

Fitness Journey Part I

So where to beginn…

In total I gained 16 kg during my pregnancy and lost about 5 kg right away through birthing our baby. After that I didn´t get on a scale for a very long time but when I did right before starting to loose weight I still had 10,9 kg to much. So I did not loose any pounds at all with breastfeeding.

I still have the insulin resistence allthough the gestational diabetes has gone so loosing weight is even harder. For me this means I have to cut out about 95% of carbs to even start loosing weight. To be honest I was very disengaged and overwhelmed by that but I started little.

My routine now contains a warm glass of water with a spoonful of apple cider vinegar on an empty stomach as it is supposed to kick start your metabolism and also has other great benefits

Then I go on and make myself breakfast containing two eggs sunny side up plus some bacon and one piece of protein bread with butter and a drop of honey. After my cup of coffee and my morning pumping session I hop on the stationary bike for about 45 minutes.

I have been doing this every day of the week so far with small exceptions like doctor visits. On the weekend I trade my bacon and eggs for french toast but other than that this stayed the same for the last few weeks.

Since I rarely eat breakfast before eleven a.m. I skip lunch and just have a little snack in the afternoon like greek yoghurt, pineapple and some nuts or I eat leftovers from dinner the night before.

For dinner I eat normal but carb free which means steak with vegetables or fish with a side salad or the inside of a burrito without the bread (burrito bowl). We do get take-out too some times and it also works great. I just leave the carbs for my husband to eat.

This has worked wonders for me and to this day I have already lost 4,9 kg which I think is amazing. I noticed my belly get slimmer and also my leg are getting back into their shape which means I can already fit into many more pairs of jeans than a few weeks ago just in time for Fall.

Of course I keep going because I still want to loose six more kilogramms. My goal is to have my pre-baby weight back in time for Christmas. Will see how this goes.

If you have any questions on anything feel free to ask.

As always thanks for stopping by. See you tomorrow.

I Shop My Own Closet Challenge – August 2020…

….

Happy Friday you guys,

I am currently sitting at the doctor´s office taking my after birth 3 hours glucose test and waiting for it to pass. Hopefully everything is back to normal and the gestational diabetes issue hasn´t turned into a regular diabetes issue. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best over here.

Since I love a good fashion and/or beauty challenge I decided to go ahead and challenge myself to not buy a single piece of clothing including shoes/bags/jewelry etc. for the whole month of August. I have a ton of cute Summer pieces I didn´t came around to wear so I decided in honor of my closet I rather should wear theses at least once this season before getting a new piece and let the older ones sit in the closet. This will definitely surprise my husband and I think he will be very happy about this choice. I am super curious if I make it to September.

This also means no more quarantine style and wearing a real outfit every day for the whole month.

I am going to keep you posted week by week and also on my Instagram how I am doing but I honestly think this is a great way to rewear pieces of your closet. Also feel free to join me and tag me in your feed.
